Inter Milan want to sort out contract negotiations with wingback Denzel Dumfries by the end of next month.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are aiming to schedule a decisive meeting with the player’s representatives in the coming weeks.

At the moment, Dumfries is one player whose situation at Inter is up in the air.

The Dutchman is out of contract with Inter at the end of June 2025.

So that is one year past the end of the current season. However, Inter would have little intention of seeing the player go into the final year of his deal.

This would of course mean the risk of losing Dumfries on a free transfer when his contract expires.

Inter’s stance has been clear. The Nerazzurri want to either agree a contract extension with Dumfries, or else will try to sell the player in the summer.

Inter Want Decisive Denzel Dumfries Contract Talks By End Of March

Inter have already made an offer to Dumfries and his representatives.

The Nerazzurri have put an offer of a new deal worth 3.8 million net per season plus add-ons on the table.

Meanwhile, the demands of the player have stood at 5 million net per season.

And according to FCIN, neither fact has changed as of yet.

For Inter, it would be difficult to go any higher than their existing offer and stay within their wage structure. This is particularly the case given the scrapping of the Growth Decree in Italian football.

And as of yet, Dumfries and his representatives have not lowered their demands.

However, the 27-year-old former PSV wingback has reportedly started to think about staying.

Dumfries is happy at Inter, and in Milan. And there aren’t currently any enticing offers from other clubs.

Manchester United have looked like the Dutchman’s biggest suitors – but so far have not made a concrete proposal.

So Dumfries could decide that his priority is to stay at Inter this summer.

In any event, Inter do not want the uncertainty to remain in the air forever.

The Nerazzurri have made a request to Dumfries’s representatives to schedule a new meeting. The date they have in mind would be before the end of March.
