Inter Milan are considering versatile Bologna defender Stefan Posch as a possible replacement if Denzel Dumfries leaves in the summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper also anticipates that Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode and Atalanta’s Emil Holm are Nerazzurri targets.

This evening, Posch will be an adversary of Inter on the pitch.

The Nerazzurri travel to Emilia-Romagna to face surprise Champions League hopefuls Bologna in Serie A.

Posch has been a regular in the Rossoblu lineup under Thiago Motta this season. Capable of playing as an attacking full-back but also at centre-back, the 26-year-old’s versatility has come in handy.

Posch joined Bologna from Hoffenheim on a permanent transfer last summer, having spent the previous season on loan at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Inter Eye Up Versatile Bologna Defender Stefan Posch As Dumfries Replacement

There is every chance that Posch will be in the lineup to face Inter this evening.

But according to Tuttosport, next season the Austrian could be lining up in Nerazzurri colours.

The reason for this is that wingback Denzel Dumfries’s future at Inter remains very uncertain.

The Dutchman’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2025. And if Dumfries doesn’t sign an extension, the Nerazzurri will look to cash in on him while they have the chance.

Manchester United retain an interest in the former PSV man.

And if Inter do sell Dumfries this summer, they could look for a replacement already in Serie A.

Young Fiorentina wingback Michael Kayode is among the Nerazzurri’s targets. As is Spezia-owned Atalanta player Emil Holm.

But according to Tuttosport, it is Bologna’s Posch who tops Inter’s list.

The 26-year-old has shown quality in both phases of play at Bologna. And he has adapted well to the style of play in Serie A.

And Inter believe that Posch would be the perfect reinforcement on the right flank, Tuttosport report.
