Atletico Madrid are in “crisis” ahead of their Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Inter Milan.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper notes, however, that the Colchoneros’ home form could be their ace in the hole.

This weekend, Inter travel to Spain to take on Atletico in the second leg of their Champions League round of sixteen tie.

On paper, the Nerazzurri are the favourites to go through.

This is the case if for no other reason than the fact that Inter have the advantage after the first leg. 1-0 may be a slender lead, but it is a lead nevertheless.

Moreover, as Tuttosport note, the two teams’ league form could hardly be more difficult in the last few weeks.

Atletico Madrid In “Crisis” Ahead Of Second Leg Vs Inter

According to Tuttosport, Atletico’s form in La Liga has become a full-blown “crisis.”

That was confirmed by the Colchoneros’ disappointing loss away to Cadiz over the weekend.

Atletico fell to a surprise 2-0 defeat against a team who are currently mired in the relegation battle, occupying a spot in the drop zone even after their surprise win.

And the loss to Cadiz highights the thing that has been the biggest problem for Atletico this season.

The Colchoneros just have not been able to consistently get results away from home.

When not playing in front of their fans at the Wanda Metropolitano, Atletico have lost seven matches out of the fourteen they’ve played.

It is for that reason that the Colchoneros are now feeling Athletic Club breathing down their necks. Just two points separate them and the major disappointment of missing out on the top four.

But that may not be as big of a problem as it seems against Inter, Tuttosport notes.

The reason being that Atletico have made the Metropolitano into a real fortress this season.

Therefore, it is not necessarily that surprising that the La Liga giants did not put in their best performance at the San Siro last month.

But on Wednesday in the Spanish capital, they are likely to be a much different proposition.
