Legendary former Nerazzurri, Barcelona, and Real Madrid winger Luis Figo feels that Inter Milan’s greatest strength is the group.

The Portuguese spoke in the matchday programme for this evening’s Serie A match against Napoli. He also looked back on his time with the Nerazzurri.

Legendary former Portuguese international Figo spent four years as an Inter player.

Figo was at the Nerazzurri for the final four years of his playing career, between 2005 and 2009. He made 140 appearances for the club, scoring eleven goals in the process.

During his time at Inter, Figo won the Serie A title in all four seasons he was at the club.

And the Portuguese also helped the Nerazzurri to the Coppa Italia in his first campaign there.

Figo played alongside many legendary former Inter players. And he experienced strong squads with great chemistry and winning mentality.

Figo also certainly saw players and groups of the highest calibre with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

And from the perspective of the former winger, there is something special about this current Inter side.

Figo looked back that “The moment that’s stuck with me most from my time at Inter is the first time that I played at the San Siro.”

“It was beautiful to look up and see all those fans pushing us on,” he went on.

And Figo also gave his thoughts on the current Nerazzurri side.

“They’re a team that play good football,” the Portuguese said.

“They’re having a very positive season.”

Figo singled out one particular Inter player for praise, commenting that “Thuram has surprised me a lot with the impact he’s had, what he’s been able to give the team.”

“Even if the I think the real strength is the group,” he went on. ‘And the contribution that all the players in the squad give on the pitch.”
