The agent of defender Mario Hermoso has confirmed that a contract extension at Atletico Madrid is unlike amid Inter Milan links.

Speaking to CalcioNapoli24 journalist Vincenzo Credendino, Hermoso’s agent Inaki Espiuza described the Nerazzurri as a “top, top club.”

Hermoso is reportedly a player who has come onto Inter’s radar.

In terms of his profile, the Spaniard would represent a fairly logical target for the Nerazzurri.

Inter play with a back-three system. And it is in just such a formation that Hermoso has really shone over the last few seasons for Atletico.

Moreover, the 28-year-old is looking very likely to be available on a free transfer – as his agent has more or less confirms.

And Inter’s propensity to sign players via that route is not exactly a great secret.

The Nerazzurri have brought in the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andre Onana, and Marcus Thuram among others after their deals with their prior clubs had expired.

Agent Of Mario Hermoso: Atletico Extension Unlikely, Inter A Top Club

Hermoso’s agent said that “He’s a player who’s doing well, he’s grown a lot in the last five seasons in Madrid.”

“He’s now coming to the end of his contract with Atletico Madrid,” the agent noted.

“It’s not taken for granted that he’ll leave to play for a different club.”

“However, when you sign a contract there has to be a common idea of a project, and at the moment we’re far from agreeing an extension with Atletico Madrid,” he made clear.

The agent continued that “Mario wants to play in a top league.”

“He doesn’t want to leave any options off the table.”

The former Espanyol defender’s agent made clear that “He wants to fight for top trophies. We’ll evaluate any project that will be at that level in the next few years. That’s the player’s aspiration.”

“Serie A can certainly be a possibility in view of the next few years,” he said.

“Inter are also a top, top club,” the agent said. “They went out of the Champions League because they didn’t kill it off in the first leg.”

“It’s never easy to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.”
