Former Athletico Paranaense coach Paulo Turra explains why Bento and Inter Milan would be a perfect match.

The Nerazzurri have been monitoring the Brazilian goalkeeper since last summer. Some sources believe the Italian giants will try again this year.

However, the competition for the 24-year-old’s signature could increase following his rise on the international scene.

Bento made his debut for the Selecao in the 1-0 friendly win over England at Wembley last month.

For his part, Turra trained Bento during his time at Perenaense. The 50-year-old arrived as an assistant manager to the legendary Luiz Felipe Scolari in May 2022 before serving as head coach between November 2022 and June 2023.

“He is a very polite lad, a great human being, a spectacular person,” said Turra in his interview with FcInterNews.

“Bento is a very cold goalkeeper who knows how to act between the posts, someone who doesn’t want to be a protagonist at all costs.

“He is quick, aggressive, and possesses great reactions.

“When I became the head coach of the team, I gave him some suggestions to make him improve with his feet.

“It was a very important leap in his evolution as a footballer. Today, Bento is a confident goalkeeper with his feet.”

Therefore, Turra advises Inter to pull off the deal, as he believes his old pupil would be an ideal fit within Simone Inzaghi’s system.

“Bento would be an excellent reinforcement for Inter. Especially in the way Inzaghi plays. I see him doing well in the current system, which is very interesting and modern.

“Bento is obviously skilled between the posts, but also confident with his feet. He mainly has a lot of strength, he plays the ball with quality.”

While some have compared Bento to Inter Milan legend Julio Cesar, Tulla believes he’s more reminiscent of Claudio Taffarel.

“Julio Cesar is from another era. Bento is calmer. I would compare him more to Taffarel.

“Back then, it was simpler, so Taffarel didn’t play much with his feet, even if he was strong in this aspect. He remains a reference point for playing posture and tranquility.”
