A report in the Italian media reveals when Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is expected to sign his long-awaited contract extension.

The Argentine’s contract saga witnessed several twists and turns in recent days.

At one point, many felt that the negotiations between the two parties were about to collapse. This is mainly due to the agent’s hefty salary demands.

But in the end, the player himself took matters into his own hands. Martinez reportedly instructed his agent Alejandro Camano to accept the club’s offer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Lautaro’s ‘yes’ emerged when the club gave his agent a 48-hour ultimatum.

The two parties held a private meeting on Thursday, and this is where the club directors made Camano a take-it-or-leave-it offer.

So as the newspaper tells it, this prompted an almost immediate answer from the striker who is keen to remain at the club.

Afterwards, the two sides reached an agreement in principle over the renewal. Therefore, Camano left Milano, returning to his base in Madrid.

Inter Milan & Lautaro Martinez To Sign New Contract Next Week

Nevertheless, the pink newspaper expects the agent to return to Italy sooner rather than later.

The source tips the two parties to put pen to paper next week.

However, this will not ensue before Tuesday’s general assembly meeting. The shareholders will gather to appoint a new board of directors and appoint a new club president to replace Steven Zhang.

After finalizing the signatures with Martinez, the management will turn its focus towards Simone Inzaghi and Nicolo Barella.

The club already has agreements in principle with the Italian duo. However, the recent ownership debacle postponed the signatures.
