Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Hakan Calhanoglu in midfield against AC Milan. This evening’s Serie A matchday 23 clash kicks off at 18.0 CET.
The big lineup doubt for Inter heading into this evening’s derby clash with Milan concerned midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
The Turkish international has been on the sidelines for a few weeks with injury.
Calhanoglu’s last match for Inter was also against Milan – in the Supercoppa Italiana final last month.
However, the 30-year-old suffered a thigh problem in that match. Then, subsequently he also suffered a calf strain which has kept him out for a total of six matches.

Calhanoglu returned to training this week – however there were doubts about whether the Turk would be ready to rush straight back to the starting eleven against Milan, or just the bench.
However, Calhanoglu is ready – Inter coach Simone Inzaghi starts him.
For the former AC Milan midfielder, moreover, derby clashes with his old side the Rossoneri are always especially important.
Inzaghi Goes With Full-Strength Starting XI For Derby
Apart from Calhanoglu, there were very few doubts for Inter’s starting eleven heading into this evening’s match.
Firstly, in goal it is certainly no surprise to see Yann Sommer start. Therefore, the former Bayern Munich veteran keeps up his record of starting every Serie A match for Inter this season.
Meanwhile, in defense it is the trio of Alessandro Bastoni, Stefan de Vrij, and Benjamin Pavard.
Next, in midfield Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan complete the usual trio alongside Calhanoglu.
Then, on the flanks Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries get the nod.
Lastly, in attack Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram lead the line.
Meanwhile, there are a couple of notable names on the Inter bench. Francesco Acerbi is back from injury, while Nicola Zalewski is available after completing his move from Roma on loan.

Zalewsky amazing sub play. If he continues like this, just please buy out. He is like born to the 3-5-2. Maybe Im too early to say this, but what a debut. Team played well, and MVP of this game should be the left post of AC Milan.
It was not a “lack of luck”. These are not matters of luck; our players should have better targeted to avoid hitting the post. With a bit more care, the 3 points would be ours now.
Frattessi is not Inter material. 2 quality midfielders are needed in the summer. Asllani and Frattessi should go. They have potential, but don’t do enough for Inter.
Strongly disagree on Frattesi. The guy is a player who has an eye for goal. Asllani however is not an Inter material and the only delusional people including the coach thinks he can replace the likes of Hakan. In fact despite Hakan losing the ball that led to the goal he gets a pass because of everything he has done and will do to Inter but Assllani is bad that being featured is actually a good thing, At least now with Zielinski Inter can continue to maintain an attacking sense when Hakan is taken off
Scoring a few goals is not enough, especially for a midfielder. Frattesi is not even remotely a complete midfielder. Whenever he plays vs a team which is not bottom table, we are like with 10 players. Some overrate him just because he plays for Italy, but nah he is not Inter material.
that pole got defence more than milan DF
I hope Ac bilan the cheaters never qualifies to the Champion leagues. I am sure they will be calling serie A to disallow inter’;s goal. Not only they have cheated in the last match, they did today, I wish them ill long with their fans. The dumb Ac bilan has been more my enemy than Juve this year
Luck B.a.s.tardac bilan cheaters stole one point
indeed once a thief will always be a thief.
Zalewski is a really good signing! bravo Beppe! tbh i prefer Zielinski over Hakan now. Hakan looks tired.
After a potential disaster, we should be grateful for taking a point…. We were the better team, created more, hit the post twice, had 3 disallowed goals, and even having said all that, we were poor tonight! This Milan team is so average, we should be ashamed to not be wiping the floor with them!!
Happy with Zaleswski- he looked like a good option…. All eyes on Rome….
hopefully rome would do us two favors today! one with zalewski and one with Napoli.
Inter gave too much respect to them. Not pushing to cause a mistake which they have shown to have. But having said that today was definition of being lucky not to lose from Milan.
agree.. it was like Inzaghi told them we lost the last two after scoring the first goal, let them score the first goal this time!! only problem was the post was playing for bilan today!
hi, what’s the update on SE comment section? i still can’t comment, only replying.
wrong.
Augusto, Zalewsky, and Bisseck changed the game.
Augusto and Bisseck did some forward runs that were great to open the space.
New signing already earned his loan fee lol already a great signing
sh|te..!! bilan won’t get relegated this year.
Great second half we should’ve won this game, Milan got lucky on this one.
Now religious people pray Napoli to lose or draw with Roma.
No need. Just like Milan they depend too much on luck while Inter’s direct style of play will prevail in the end. Roma are a sorry team I’m actually counting on smaller teams who can properly defend because unlike Inter, Napoli can’t break teams down. Inter just need to focus on winning the matches they are suppose to win
3 dissallowed goal, hit the post thrice…
we are unlucky, fortunately still push a draw..
hope the scudetto doesn’t goes away with thir result..
It was not a “lack of luck”. These are not matters of luck; our players should have better targeted to avoid hitting the post. With a bit more care, the 3 points would be ours now.
We better all become religious, if we want a Scudetto this year.
I’m not. 😛
Not a result I predicted. I figured Inter was going to win this one. Our MVP was that Left Post. LOL!!!
I felt inter was the better team but you could just tell between the posts and the disallowed goals things just weren’t gonna go their way. It happens like that sometimes.
Lucky for you Napoli drew. Lucky for us we had a great reaction and can find some consistency. Especially in defense.
Hope You’re Well!
well at least we didn’t lose to these bums.
Funny, that’s also what I thought 🙂
1 dirty point when we needed 3. But the football gods said they would not give it to us today, for some reason. Maybe because we win the Club World Cup or Champions League.
Start saying your prayers.
zalewski did more today than Buchanans entire inter career..
And people kept saying Buchanans needed more chance but the reality is that his end product was so bad compared to any other team player
that being said, I have really not seen enough of Buchanan! I think he has the potential to be really good.. but will he end up being one of those ‘.. could have beens’
Yeah. He doesn’t need to do one on one dribble skill like Tajon. He did what LWB should do, a good crossing like Di Marco always do. Dang, the way he went through the offside trap to pass for De Vrij was brilliant.
Lucky Milan.Pure LUCK
we should have scored 5.. yet have to settle for a draw
No with Buchanan gone it was his position to take
I had no idea Nicola Zalewski is official. I thought comentator on TV is making mistakes calling Zalewski instead of Zielinski. 😛
un-FKN-beleivable!!! About Time!!!!!!!!! goooaaalll!!!!!!! DeVrij!!!!! Quick shout out to Zalewski, who has looked good on his debut!!
He didn’t look good until his cross, that had a lot of whip on it, and then a very good, very smart chest down. And he stayed onside! First viewing I thought they would be giving us a 4th disallowed goal on the evening.
wtf!! zalewski!!!
Hold on. They can still come up with some lame excuse to dissalow a goal
Three legal goals were disallowed. I guess Bilan are not shy.
and 3 posts!! seriously out of a Hollywood movie!!
Another post
If you have friends who are Napoli fans, congratulate them. It’s over.
stfu. it ain’t over until it’s over.
Are Napoli peak Man City or Real Madrid. Then no they are bound to drop points and lose matches
This apparently isnt our night. Ball simply wont go in. The scudetto race is over. We should rest our squad and prepare for the club world cup.
Besides missing Morata and Fofana, bilan is playing with WACK players like terracinio, camarda (17 years) and jimenez and YET we can’t do anything lol this game is doomed.
3 disallowed goals, and now hit the post twice…. WTF?!? How can we not beat this garbage???
Apparently the football gods owed Milan a favor. Or five.
After the trashing we gave them last season of course they’re against us this season.
I didn’t see the game but by the looks of it we must have been either average or garbage. Atleast a point is better than zero. The way Conte has Napoli playing, I don’t even wanna see them lose because he might run back to this atrocious 3 man back line. However, Inter need to be crowned champions again and 2nd place should be enough for them.
Are you kidding me!!!!!
they only use counters and speed. thats literally the same tactics. and yet we are here playing being the full idi^ts.
if the comment section remain bad, this site will loose the appeal
Inzaghi destroyed our game today. These subs are horrible!!! We need a GOAL FFS!!! WHY IS 3 OUT OF 5 SUBS DEFENDERS!!!!!!!!
wrong.
Augusto, Zalewsky, and Bisseck changed the game.
Augusto and Bisseck did some forward runs that were great to open the space.
That last play, those one touch passing was what made us lethal last season, I don’t see those kind of plays this season anymore.
Our players look so shocked every time there is physical contact or a challenge. What kind of game did they show up for? I don’t get it.
I dunno man. Not happy with Thuram today.
I don’t understand we can’t take shots instead have to cross it in to the goal line every time !!
How!!!
3 disallowed goals!! This is torture!!!
This ref is looking for the lamest excuses to help this losers.
The way this game is going we are doomed smh. And withthese subs we won’t win either. Take out Bastoni and Pavard??? For bisseck and augosto lol
I can’t do this, man.
Of course
Asllani time… I want to throw up.
This is unwatchable.
If we don’t at least get a point in this game, Napoli will win the league. They are too consistent while we are inconsistent.
Conceicao is very underrated, he’s actually a world class coach. He did wonders with Porto and our Mehdi was a league top scorer multiple times.
In this game, we have a full starting eleven while Milan is missing two starters: Morata (sold) and Fofan, yet they are beating us. Smh
Thuram only plays well against weak Calcium teams. Every game against Milan, he does poorly, apart from his debut. Çalhanoğlu is also playing pretty poorly. Very poor creative team, and Inzaghi, as always, doesn’t know how to work with the team.
Bilan will win for 2 reasons. Their manager just figured out the weak side of inter and it seems that Inzaghi will always lose to their new manager and ironically he used to be an inter milan player.
we need a tranquerista as soon possible.
when hakan is out of form , our mid is below par !
When Milan presses we go full pazza
Inter wins the ball and only Lautaro is inside the box
Even draw is not good result. Only win counts. Otherwise Napoli will run away.
Why didn’t Thuram just go for goal??????
That should’ve been the equalizer
We need a BIG 45 minutes here now!!! Let’s turn this around boys!!!!! Let’s Goooooo!!!!!
we are giving them too much respect.. should treat them like Monaco and try to knock the wind out! though that being said they have too many pacy players who could hurt us on the counter
what sort of match is this? apart from pavard everyone seems to be playing in an hangover. our usual barella is slow to ever ball. this bilan side were horrible, yet we were not doing much and even let them score! hope Inzaghi kicks some sense into them. Mhiki should stop starting his brain and legs have stopped talking to each other.
As good Pavard has been not covering Leao at the end was a big mistake.
Reijnders is the most dangerous milan player… Hakan and Mikhi is not playing like they should be, below standards…
they use the same formulas and yet we havent learnt from that??!! unbelievable!
Inter just need to be more direct. Milan will be even more defensive which mean Inter must force the issue
we tend to delay our attacking moves which give opponent time to recover. Most of bilan players are more pacey than ours, they will enjoy sit back and making counter
we play like a bunch of sissys. Inzghi should slap them all. Our gameplay looks like our players never met before. They must change their diapers, man up, grow some balls and smack those sore losers.
Inglese Ultra, congrats, now you have avatar, Milan winning. They startd revenge of 6 wins in a row.
Hopefully some harsh words from Inzaghi at half time!! We can’t lose to these guys again!!
Can the Admins AT LEAST put the new COMMENTS on TOP
Sure. Doing that now.
Hakan lost that ball so easily and than Pavard left Leao wide open.
How are we going in at half time 1 down?? How??!!!???? This is getting silly now, against these mid table no-marks!!! C’mon Boys!!! we are better than this!!!!!
I don’t know why but too me since the fist loss it looks like we became afraid of Milan.
Worst possible end to a half.
Sommer will not be happy with that. And he shouldn’t be.
Of course MIlan scores afte 2 disallowed goals. Napoli smiling even more.
we play terrible
For sure Milan will win.
BS
I can’t believe it
Im furious.
Milan are so fcking lucky every game. Completely against run of play and Inter clearly a much better team.
But we’re afraid for some reason against Milan this season.
we are seriously trying to lose to them twice in the league this season. the only team that defeated us twice last year got relegated!! hoping for a repeat maybe?
2 disallowed goals. This is not good.
Those goals were offside nothing we can’t do
That reaction on Sommer
Pavard
I’ve only been watching for the last 7 mins and we’ve had 4-5 clear cut chances. Has it been like this all half???
Yes
No, not really. But we should be 2-0 up.
Godf***ing damn bulls***. Twice.
Clear offside
Barella is OFF
Theo dives and the linesman instantly buys it.
OK, go register and put picture of Correa. Hehehehe. Cheers!
French Connection by Pavard
Inglese Ultra, I told you once. This comment section is part of WordPress. So register in WordPress and put picture ans come here with registered name and yoiu’ll see your desired picture.
Cheers! I must have missed the first reply….
It was nice to hang out with you in chat during games guys
LyinLion they should ask you first. You’re most friendly fan of Inter here.
How did you manage ro put your own personal avatar on??
Haha, thx bro. You’re right, they probably should!
The comments only seem to refresh if you leave the page, and then come back….
RIP SempreInter comment section. We hardly knew thee.
Yeah the creator told me it was a live chat but it isn’t as I have to reload the page to see all new comments.
Every result is possible. No favorites in derby. As pessimistic I am I predict 3:1 win for us. 😉
Let’s go!!! Also im going to miss the like button
must win boys… not cos it’s bilan, but cos we need to keep napoli on their toes
-Strongest 11
-Used less energy against Monaco than Milan must have done against Zagreb
– Chaotic transfer window for Milan
– Weak bench for Milan
– Neither Morata or Giménez are part of the squad
– Dissatisfaction with Conceicao
Inter simply have every opportunity to win this!
Let’s get it done this time
Strongest eleven so no excuses. Forza Inter!!!
Yup. Time to put them in their place. Send them into a tailspin
Are a lot of semi-retarded people here… This guy is worried that could be a risk to start Hakan after a long injury :)))))))))) do you know football better than Inzaghi?you have more experience??? And of course the guys that want to see younger footballers in our team, maybe promoting from the primavera:))))))))
Did your mother not show you any love?? What is your problem? You accuse others of being negative, but just seem to ome on here to pick fights with real Inter fans… Juve fan in disguise, methinks….
Where is Fratessi??? His not playing today:))))))))))))))))))))))))))
On the bench.
Do you think you know Football better than Inzaghi??Have you more Experience???? Blah blah blah…. How dare you have an opinion!! There’s a guy on here called Intermilan who’ll have you for that…. Oh, hang on a minute….
Inter is ready to put on a demolition job
I think everyone on here will be delighted to see Hakan back in the starting 11- just hope it’s not too much of a risk throwing him straight back in, during our biggest match of the season so far!! On paper, this is our strongest 11 available, and it’s time for some serious payback!! We need to start the match like we did against Monaco, and blitz them from minute 1!!!
C’mon Boys, FORZA INTER!!!!
AMEN!!!
Let’s get it done this time
