Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Mehdi Taremi in attack, Kristjan Asllani in midfield, and Josep Martinez in goal against AC Milan. This evening’s Coppa Italia semifinal second leg clash kicks off at 21.00 CET.

Inter Milan face AC Milan in the Coppa Italia this evening.

It is the fifth time that the two city rivals meet in a derby this season. Moreover, it is the second leg, for a place in the final.

Therefore, this evening’s match will be a huge one for both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri’s season.

However, for Inter there are other big matches just around the corner.

Firstly, Inter take on Roma in a postponed Serie A match on Sunday.

Then, the Nerazzurri face Barcelona in the first leg of a Champions League semifinal next Wednesday.

Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has had to think about balancing naming a strong starting eleven against Milan this evening with giving key players adequate rest.

Josep Martinez Keeps Place As Coppa Italia Keeper

Firstly, in goal Josep Martinez has kept his place as Inter’s cup keeper. The Spaniard starts ahead of Yann Sommer.

Then, in defense there is one change. Alessandro Bastoni keeps his place from Sunday’s league loss to Bologna.

Furthermore, Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij replaces Francesco Acerbi. Additionally, Yann Bisseck starts instead of Benjamin Pavard.

Meanwhile, there is one big change in midfield. Kristjan Asllani starts for Inter alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Nicolo Barella.

Therefore, Hakan Calhanoglu gets the chance to catch his breath.

On the flanks, meanwhile, there is a notable change as Federico Dimarco replaces Carlos Augusto starting opposite Matteo Darmian.

In attack the notable name is that of Mehdi Taremi. The Iranian international gets the nod, next to club captain Lautaro Martinez.

As a result, Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic are both benched.

Meanwhile, Inter have three players still out with injury – Marcus Thuram, Denzel Dumfries, and Piotr Zielinski.
