Inter Milan have chosen Christian Chivu to be their new head coach after their pursuit of Cesc Fabregas failed.
This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio. He reports on his homepage that the Nerazzurri have informed the Romanian coach, currently at Parma, that they want him on their bench.
Inter Milan are currently working furiously to find a replacement for Simone Inzaghi.
On Monday, the 49-year-old informed the Nerazzurri that he intended to step down. He left to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
In the meantime, Inter have been working to try and convince Como Cesc Fabregas to become Inzaghi’s successor.
However, Como President Mirwan Suwarson strongly rebuffed the Nerazzurri’s interest, and stated that the Lariani would refuse to release the Spaniard.
Di Marzio: Inter Milan Choose Christian Chivu As New Coach

Therefore, Inter have had to quickly work to find a new coach.
And there had been a couple of potential options. One was former Nerazzurri and Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira.
However, reports Di Marzio, Inter have instead gone in the direction of a different former Inter player.
The Sky transfer expert reports that Inter have chosen former Nerazzurri, Roma, and Ajax defender Christian Chivu.
Chivu spent six seasons with the Nerazzurri. He won the European Treble with the club in the 2009-10 season.
And following retirement from playing time, Chivu coached Inter at several youth team level.
Last season, the Romanian got his first senior coaching position with Parma.
And now, reports Di Marzio, Inter have decided to bring Christian Chivu back to replace Inzaghi.
for those who said oaktree is about cutting cost, the same lot seems to forget that they are in the business of making money, and in order to do that, the club need to be successful to a point where it actually generate profits.
rather than being the doomsayers where you are waiting to say ” i told you so ” if or when things fail, why not put a little trust in the club and process. We still have Beppe Marotta for 2 more years, we are in good hands until then.
People need to relax…I get the disappointment but our squad is still one of the best in Europe (so far). If they don’t get picked apart this summer, everything will be fine. There is no favorite to win the league, as we saw Napoli exceed everyone’s expectations this year. Calma…let Kiki cook
COVER UP: ONE DAY HISTORY will reveal what I am about to state.
INTER made a deal with Nasser and literally sold out the CL Final. I have trusted sources.
Oaktree made business transactions with Nasser. I am done guys. This is so shameful. One day truth shall come out. OAKTREE doesn’t[t care about inter, It is all about money. I am going to bet that inter will be in SERIE B next season.
This is a strange move to say the least. At least when Inzaghi was hired he won two trophies, but with Chivu , they are going to uncharted territories. Disappointing as I was expecting a world-class coach with high investment for the upcoming season. Guess not.
you must have forgotten that when inzaghi came, everyone was shouting he wasn’t ready for big club like inter. instead he gave us thrill with aging squad conte couldn’t continue to work with. Milan’s conceicao came after winning the league, yet he put milan to the mid table even though they signed big name players
2012 here we come.
i agree
Guys calm down they will test Chivu in the world cup of he fails they will definitely replace him with another experienced manager
really, that’s how it’s done?!
It is what it is guys. Positives: If someone knows the Club inside out its Christian. Great player, respect from everyone, Treble hero. Managed all youth sections of the club, and did a great job. Managed a poor Parma and was really tough opponent for everyone. Very good statistic also with Parma. Will play with 3 on the back, eventually transitioning in the attack phase to back 4. Is cheap and loves the club. Negatives: Didnt win anything yet so its a risky choice, Dont have experience managing serie A teams. I think every Interista deep down prays Kiki will succeed at Inter, his home. Will it really happen, nobody knows… I wish you Kiki all the best, much respect and a lot of luck.
Bring back President Zhang asap. That Chinese guy knows what to do.
Imagine being ucl finalists and consistently in Europe and your coach leaves suddenly…… out of all managers you can get and also buy from their contract, you go for an unproven coach with no big team experience just because he was a former player ?? WTF ARE MANAGEMENT DOING!!
chivu will be fired before winter and we won’t make top 5 mark my words.
We just ruined our season.
chivu needs to be supported by management as much as inzaghi has except inzaghi got not financial support.. iam sure he will be fine. plus, you cannot dream big anymore, cause oaktree as owners want to cut cost.. simple.
This is about the only time I wanna cuss out management. I don’t even know what to say. How do we…. WTF!!!!! I can’t even get words to explain what I feel. Chivu???
99.9% of fans here (since they have low IQ) disagree with you. I don’t care how many times they will attack me but I am going to remain critical of inter: Inter will be fighting the relegation zone next season. Let’s see if Chivu will prove me wrong.
“Oh shit here we go again”
the cycle is about to be repeated
This will be a difficult season. lol
Oaktree just said Nah, im not gonna spend shit. LOL
Oaktree will be Inter’s undoing. They are like Milan’s Redbird.
I think Chivu was only given the minimum target of qualifying for the Champions League next season. So it looks like Inter fans will have to be patient for next season.
The ridiculousness of this club… I have so many questions.
First of all, how does a top team—a Champions League finalist, no less—not manage to get the coach they actually want? How is it possible they didn’t already have someone lined up before Inzaghi left? What serious club gets blindsided like this and doesn’t have a first-choice manager ready to go?
It’s surreal. Just when you thought they’d finally built something stable—tightened up the finances, fixed the structure, started acting like a serious well oiled club—we get this chaos.
Lord have mercy on me and all my fellow Interistas. At this rate, we’re going to need defibrillators on standby every weekend.
The football and the management is all Pazza!
I hope so…. He was my first choice, given the choices we have… Everyone is going nuts for Fabregas, but he’s a rookie coach, just like Chivu! Chivu has Inter DNA, and is a treble hero! All our players will respect him immediately! He plays good, progressive football, and is willing to use young players…. He also showed great tactical flexibility in the match against us, switching formation at half time to get a result, and his record against the big clubs was very good! Also, as I’ve said before, he might finally be the Coach who manages to make some use out of our youth players, having seen them in action first hand from his time as the Primevera coach… if this happens, I’ll be as happy as is possible, give the events of the last week….
most thing you have listed as advantages of Chivu’s coaching style, woulda apply to amid to low level club coach, but are pretty much discouraging for those Inter fans who prefer winning trophies…
It’s the reality of the situation, and the direction Oaktree are taking the club… Would I have liked us to announce that we were poaching Luis Enrique- of course, but then I also wish that Alison Brie and Ana De Armis were happy to share me!!
bro, get use to it, we need to cut cost. we cannot dream big. start from 0 after lose 5-0. thats it!
I like the points you raise!
Thanks… hiring ex players hasn’t done Barca much harm in the past…. let’s hope it can work for us….
Ameen. iam share this joy with you as iam always root for Chivu rather than viera..
It is good choice. Chivu play with 3 at the back. While Viera plat with 4 the back.
Now we can buy Leoni Parma. And new forward. Hojlund or Bony.
If he brings Leoni with him, I’ll be ecstatic!!
Welcome to the Banter Era 2.0!
Learning from the past, the most valuable investment in Inter is good coach.
inter is repeating rubentus’ mistakes when they hired Andrea Pirlo. I am sure Marotta told Chivu “if you perform well like avoid inter from relegation, then you will stay for 2 years, otherwise we will sack you in January and still find a job for you. We are desperate to get cheap manager for the World Cup.”
you think you can do better than marota?
cmon i dare you to replace him
I never claim to be better. I am not attacking Marotta because I hate him or think he is not good, I am very critical because inter must win the CL before Marotta finish with inter. Marotta is great for the club in terms of balancing the boo-money wise.
The CL ship has long sailed now, we missed our window – see you in another 20 years
and you think with the money and squad we have winning ucl will be like walk in a cake?
dude last year and before juve ,napoli and even atalanta have better financial than us
give credits to marota and inzaghi because theyre deserve it
one wrong move and we will be like bilan
but lucky we are not
Davide already knew . Typical Inter supporter
Chivu an interista sadly will be sacked in January.
I still think Chivu is better than Vieira in terms of managerial skill. I hope the Chivu and the team get the chemistry and everything turns out to be good..
