Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has decided to start Marcus Thuram in attack against Fluminense. Today’s FIFA Club World Cup round of sixteen match kicks off at 21.00 CET.
Inter Milan take on Fluminese today. The Nerazzurri go head-to-head with the Brazilian giants for a place in the quarterfinals against either Manchester City or Al-Hilal.
Inter coach Cristian Chivu has made a few changes to the team that started against River Plate in the team’s last group stage match.

Firstly, Stefan de Vrij starts in the centre of the back three. Therefore, he replaces Francesco Acerbi alongside Alessandro Bastoni and Matteo Darmian.
Meanwhile, it is once again Yann Sommer in goal for the Nerazzurri.
Federico Dimarco Starts At Left-Wingback

Then, things stay the same on the flanks.
Denzel Dumfries keeps his spot on the right, and at left-wingback it is Federico Dimarco.
Therefore, Carlos Augusto once again settles for a place on the bench.
Meanwhile, in midfield, Chivu has gone with the same trio that had started against River last week.
Therefore, it is Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Kristjan Asllani, and Nicolo Barella.
Marcus Thuram Leads The Line

Lastly, in attack, Marcus Thuramstarts alongside Lautaro Martinez.
Reportedly, Chivu had been ready to hand Francesco Pio Esposito another start. However, the 20-year-old has suffered a minor injury.
Furthermore, Marcus Thuram is back from injury, Therefore, he starts.
In terms of injuries, meanwhile, Inter are without all of Yann Bisseck, Benjamin Pavard, Hakan Calhanoglu, Davide Frattesi, and Piotr Zielinski in addition to Pio Esposito.
Meanwhile, Mehdi Taremi remains in his home country of Iran. The 32-year-old has been unable to travel to the US due to the closure of Iranian airspace amid the escalating conflict with Israel.

Was a good game considering we don’t even have a full squad to rely on and haven’t had one this entire tournament. Chivu is still developing his tactics so he can only go up from here. This team needs a rest anyway. Looking forward to next season.
Don’t convince yourself it will be different remember coaches sometimes will keep on prefering on players even if it’s clear those players are a liability and adds nothing to the team. Asllani starting every single match is not a good sign at all. Mikhi although good he seems to be trusted more than others. He starts matches very slow and players kept conceding silly goals. He’s not going to magically shift the entire team over a few months which is 100% correct but there’s truly a wrong and a right way. So using and trusting the same deadweights is not a good sign at all.
Lol I have faith in our coach. He’ll deliver, I’m sure of it
Exactly. After the final humiliation, this team needs a rest. The damage after the final, as Dumfries said in an interview, has been affecting them mentally. Additionally, they are also tired after a long season, having played in three competitions.
What do people expect from Chivu? He took the team in their worst condition, physically and mentally. We all here have been expecting our new coach to play youngsters, and he already did it.
If you ask him to get rid Sommer, De Vrij, Mikhi, Darmian, Aslani, or the senior player, well that’s not as simple as playing Football Manager or Fifa.
No, you don’t go into this competition and make a lot of changes, especially with all of the injuries and fitness problems.
As a coach, you need to play these senior players to respect them or keep a healthy relationship with them (God, I can not find words to explain this, but you might know if you play Football Manager game). At least, we saw some tactical changes here and there.
The only thing that worries me a lot is how this team will survive without Hakan. We have seen all the struggles when Denzel or Di Marco were injured, Those situation were not comparable when Hakan was absent in the last 2 season. It was the same worrying situation when Brozo was absent, but luckily, Inzaghi managed to turn Hakan into top deep lying playmaker.
Let’s see guys. Next season is gonna be wild.
sell everbody from last season and keep the youngsters and sign pacey young players. New era is needed.
Here we go.
All the football keyboard warrior experts.
All of sudden, here we can find all the experts smarter than Marotta, Inzaghi and Chivu lol.
LMAO good one
Fans embarrassed for the 2nd time in a month
What do you expect
And if they all think asllani is a good enough player for inter then yes we do know better than them
Inter were not playing behind closed doors its clear there are major issues with the current squad. Even those you consider smart (Chivu and Marrota) aren’t going to ignore. The first big one is selling Hakan would essentially mean Inter are not reaching top 4 because Chivu seems to like Asllani to start matches so even if someone new arrives he will be behind Asllani. Also Inter conceded cheap goals throughout the competition because the defenders are just utter trash…. That can’t be ignored. The whole point of this competition is that Chivu will get to see the players ina competitive setting something that many new serie a coaches won’t see. Now it’s all up to him because unless his target is to avoid relegation he must be bold and demand something even if the club to put a stop in Hakan sale immediately even a half fit/inspired Hakan is better at this point to add a bit of creativity in the middle
He is starting Asllani because they want to sell him. It’s like a shop keeper putting something they want to sell in the front shop window.
Everyone can see Asllani and what he can do. No one will buy him with him just sitting on the bench.
Lazio has already confirmed Inter trying to buy Rovella so that Asllani gone even with Hakan going. Zielinski may end up getting moved in to that position as well by the coach.
But if Asllani is to be sold he needs to be displayed and that is what happened.
I hope your guess is true but we both know that’s not the case Lol. Zielinski is so injury prone that I don’t think it’ll be wise to include him to proper future plans and Asllani might keep starting in serie a especially if Hakan left. To be honest Hakan staying at this point would like a new signing because the alternative is Asllani playing ahead of any new signing which means a waste of first half
That’s what happens when you hire an intern. The club’s history of losing to this tiny team is becoming increasingly embarrassing. No comments.
They shouldn;t be allowed to stay in the USA one more minute. Ship all of them to where they belong and cute off money from their salaries,
thank goodness the season is finally over! couldn’t wait looking atthe state we have been in for the last 2 months.i hope all our players get a bit of rest, and a good preseason.hope our management see that darmian and mhiki and maybe sommer are no longer starting materials.
add barella to that list.
What about Thuram, what about Barella, what about Azzlani?
so bad chivu, what are they doing
Well…. apparently we’ve more or less run out of money, and we need at least 2 Centre Backs, a defensive midfielder, and a creative midfielder…. Good luck with that….
Don’t forget a striker and a proper pacey winger
Honestly, this is why I’m looking forward to seeing Bonny…. people are questioning his output, but Barca backheel aside, when did Thuram last do anything????
Losers! I hope they would score the third!
No real Inter fan would hope that
Yeah right blame me for the loss! It won;t matter, maybe 3-0 would force inter and Oaktree to do something
you again?
Yes it is you again!
He hasn’t taken his pills today. Go easy.
chivu out
Luis Henrique for me feels like a very expensive Jonathan Biabiany. watching Chivu’s Inter feels like watching paint dry.
Exactly. No redeeming quality so far.
Lord Darmian time to leave
Nice defending Darmian
Chivu must get the lessons from this competition. He must
He won’t When I say relegation zone. I mean it!
sure you do. Serie C!!!
Shit on by a Brazilian side. They’ve got a lot of things to sort out before the next season.
A Brazilian side beat PSG…..
They are only in mid season while our guys are nackered running on empty, injuries, new coach, mentally scarred from the final, playing new imported guys who haven’t yet got team work gel with existing players and playing kids like Pio. A LOT of our players didn’t get a rest last season either because of the EUROS and Copa America….
I am actually surprised Inter got this far.
We have actually played quite good football for the most part and some non tired accurate finishing would have changed our season.
Our team needs rest not unknowledgeable emotional fan comments.
sommer is finished, get him out of here
Wow we actually lost to a South American team 2-0
Just blow the whistle ref…. never mind the players, I need a rest from football!!! And there we go…. Hercules…. Game over…. What a waste of a tournament…..
loseeers
Forza Inter!
Conversion from Carlos
Wow, we cant pass, cant dribble, can’t cross and cant even shoot.
Inter players are drunk Lol
Carlos Agusto with Barella finishing
The arrogant losers went from believing they would win 4 cups to zero cups and humiliation.
Try supporting another team.
Never mind, this Henrique guy is hopelessly bad…
So we haven’t been able to get past a 40 year old centre back, and a 44 year old goalkeeper??!!?? I’ll say that again…. A 44 YEAR OLD GOALKEEPER!!!! FFS!!!
cross after cross, thats all we know. Fuck this im off.
It’s good choice by Chivu to move Luis Henrique to the right. At least if he dribbles successfully, he can shoot rather than pass the ball.
I meant to the left side.
Congratulations psg first club ever to win 4 cups!
First 2 genuinely dangerous chances on 81 minutes…..
All because CHivu decided he should play attacking players and not worry about balance. Lautaro and Thuram were out numbered yet no other midfield player had the sense to join them because both Asllani and Mikhi knows in their hearts they are not goal scorers and knows they’ll play regardless. At least with other players they would be trying to create something and it was clear from minute 1.
The problem aren’t the players, its the way Italian teams usually train. They focus on tactical plays more than on the ball. Thats why they are bad on the ball and can’t move around with them without losing it.
Barella kills nice attacks by keeping the ball and back passing every time
Well Chivu kept starting a doomed starting eleven thinking he can expect anything different from first half Inter. The good thing is now Chivu knows the limit for some of of his players unless he just ignores everything and continues this in serie a
he will ignore everything I am sure of it 100%
He’ll figure this out in the end of the season lol. Thats if he is still our inter coach
he will be out by Christmas
10 more minutes and they are down 1-0 LOL They should go back to Italy tonight
Carboni is so slow with dribbling…
I haven’t seen PAZ…is he any better?
He is a quicker dribbler for sure. He is better under pressure as well.
No spark no cohesion but still Forza Inter Pazza Inter
Susic came in very well. Now, this L. Henrique just shows that he is not worth the money spent on him.
D. Vrij is joking by missing this goal.
Esposito has already done more than Thuram.
Thuram was just jogging all match not pressing not passing properly as if he’s carrying someone on his back. Maybe he was tired but his attitude wasn’t right
And now we’re missing open nets too….
Haven’t seen anything worthwile from Luis Henrique in all the games he’s been a part of. Very dependent on his right foot, tries to dribble with the same move all the time.
Well I’m happy he made changes
However, this team is on its knees
This is most “pre season friendly” looking game we’ve had at this tournament.
They were obviously all gassed anyway maybe the extra heat / humidity has just tipped them over the edge.
Scarily bad performance
Zanetti, marotta, chivu – you need to add some quality if you want anymore trophies
yess Thuram off. Send him back to italy. Hes not needed here.
Looked completely disinterested in playing. Zero effort. He’s starting to act like a real premo donna
How are they so bad on the ball? There is no way a professional footballer is that bad on the ball. Am I watching Chinese football or something here?
To be fair to Sommer, great save!!
Sucic has already done more than the rest of our midfield combined….
If Thuram is injured please take him off. He looks like hes injured and limping.
It’s player’s responsibility to ask Coach to sub him if he is injured.
coach has last decision to make. he should subb him off clwarly the coach must see that hes not doing anything there.
Thuram… what is he doing there???
The same thing he was doing against PSG
Bastoni doesn’t trust Sommer anymore lol
Dimarco and Thuram still stay in and mess up the balls. Nice.
cant even make simple pass.
Sucic and Henrique!!! Thank God!!!!
The amount of times Miki gives away possession is just criminal….
Chivu won’t change the team. In true Italian style, he’ll only change the team halfway through the second half, lol
There’s a long way to go in this game yet, but I honestly couldn’t care less if we go out today, and the reason I’d because of the team we are playing…. I said from day 1, that Lautaro, Thuram, Barella, DiMarco, Bastoni and Dumfries shouldn’t have even come to the States! They should have been sent away for a months rest, and to get their heads and bodies right for next season! Sommer, Acerbi, Darmian, Miki- these guys should have been thanked for their service, but been told that it was the end of an era, and the club needs to move forward….
This tournament should have been a chance to try new things, and see who was up to the task from our Primevera…. which is what I thought was the main point of hiring Chivu!?! Our main players for this tournament should have been J.Martinez, Augusto, Sucic, Zalewski, Henrique, Pio and Carboni, and we should have been seeing minutes for the likes of Palacios, Cocchi, Berenbruch, Stankovic, Topalovic, Del Pieri, to see of they were good enough going forward!! We’ve seen cameos from Pio and Carboni, but the youth player who’s had most minutes is Sebastiano Esposito- the one player that we are definitely going to sell!!!!
This tournament has been a complete shitshow, and a wasted opportunity to bring in nee blood, while giving the first team players with a future a well needed rest!!!
Also, the ref has stopped play twice when we are going forward because a Flu guy throws himself on the ground. Am I missing something with that??
Dear Chivu we have been better when the young lads play, Chivu Thuram is not interested sub asslani bring Sucic and Carboni, bring as Augusto and we will win this game also bring on Henrique play him as AM
I understand your comment but seriously, do you think they visit or even read the comments! Come on!
I’m usually trying to support our players but we are severely lacking today. Mhiki and asllani are completely predictable. Barella is forced to cover defensively, and dimarco and Thuram look like they’re playing in quicksand.
We need people willing to run up front and dynamism and creativity in midfield I. The second half.
Hopefully chivu is playing 2 halves because of the heat and will bring in fresh faces sooner than later
whats worrying right now is the damn insistence by still using washed up and tired players when you have fresh players on the bench. Also, the same brain dead players we saw last season who don’t know how to unlock games are still being used and they haven’t changed methods or ideas!! wow!!
If Chivu doesn’t have the balls to switch up and change, we are doomed for the rest of the season.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! It’s about time we start prioritizing players who are hungry and willing to sacrifice for the club. Time to clean up and cash in where we can.
The Brazilian manager has been managing football clubs since 1996. What do you expect.
Darmian is RETARD
The last Inters training video had no clips of them training with the ball at all. I remember someone telling me they do more tactical and physical training than on the ball. I was hoping that wasn’t the case with Chivu, but looking at how bad they are with the ball explains it.
our players look mentally and physically tired which makes unable to focus. They are also making alot of bad passes and making more mistakes tells alot that they lack pass training like you said. Something is going on and you could see missunderstandings with bastoni and asllani, so lack of communication also plays big part that mistakes happen. Its like watching a whole new team playing with each other for the first time.
Darmian and Vrij butting heads all the time.
They cannot score against a Brazalian club LOL I mean they barely beaten the Japanese club and if it wasn’t for the red card, they would have hard time against River Plate. Nothing has changed. it is the same inter.
This is what Chivu’ needed to know that relying in Inzaghi Line-up will get him nowhere.
Is thuram injured?
Mentally injured
looks like hes unable to run.
He looks really labored or really lazy in the heat.
This is same horrendous play like Inzaghis Inter against Bologna, Parma etc. Chivu needs to put some slaps at the half time without question
Even if we win today we’ll get smoked without bastoni next game. He’s our only good CB. Calm 30 million let the players go rest
Asllani with his dumb, short, useless passes.
LOL
Horrible line-up horrible play
You guys watch Dimarco, Barella and Thuram.
Just watch him.
It’s very much like Inter, being the only European club to be eliminated by a South American team, lol.
Offside, but that would have been a fully deserved 2nd goal…. this is painful to watch….
As i’ve said before we need new gk. Sommer is dropping a lot in concentration and reflexes, if Martinez can’t get in front of this much bad Sommer, he trully ain’t Inter material. Darmian is just bad on centreback position, de Vrij is just too slow, and he can’t close player like Acerbi can, and not a great game for Bastoni either.
#Petrovic for new gk
He really should have come out for that ball. Ridiculous to leave a floating ball right in front of him for a free header
Right, in earlier news i’ve said we need gk who will be the best player on pitch to get us out of bad situations, cause the rest of team often makes mistakes. Some said that we should give Martinez a chance, but he’s already 27, if by now he didn’t show that he can be n.1, he’s not for us. Before us, he played for Genoa, that’s team which can be any place between 12th-20th.
Martinez has looked good when he’s played. I think they’re just protecting egos
Handa wasn’t that much older from Sommer when Onana took his place, cause he was extremelly good on goal, in top 3 players of that season.
For years Inter played slow boring football and here I thought Chivu was going to change that. Maybe I was wrong. We are going back to slow tactical football again guys.
No idea why cannot he try J Martinez for a goalkeeping. I think he is trying to make a transition smoothly. If inter loses tonight, it is not a big deal but I hope man city would thrash al hilal 7-0 although I have a feeling it will be a close match and may end-up penalties. I also hope Bayren would beat psg.
Arias is taking the piss out of us, and that should have been 2-0!! Sommer with a weak parry, straight back into danger….
Other mistakes by Darmian and Sommer. Chivu needs to do something about it.
For those who are in favor of Çalhanoglu’s departure, the team loses a lot in aerial play without his shots.
Hakan is just so crucial to this midfield because if it’s Asllani who is replacing him it’s already over. Barella can’t be the only one creating anything going forward. The added bonus of Hakan is that he actually defends decently unlike Asllani. The signs are not looking great because Chivu seems to think Asllani is more than enough in that midfield starting in every match and he offers just about the same but still the guy keeps trusting him
Dimarco and Barella have been HORRIBLE
Completely disagree. Barella has been the best player on the field for us. Dimarco is crowded out. They are pinching on our left.
De Vrij has been tentative and asslani has been looking shaky
They’ve looked bad cos they’re needing to be out of position to accommodate asllani
He’s always in the wrong place and so he entire system breaks down.
I’m not moaning about him cos it’s personal, it’s cos he’s like playing with 9 men as he drags others out of their roles
Miki could stop missing so many passes.
It is very simple Brazilians are used to extremely hot weather so for sure they will out class inter
The team seems a bit disorganized on the field, out of sync. Lots of passing errors
Of course now everyone will be accusing me LOL
Who the hell are you?
an inter realistic fan who is anti Asllani
huggingface.co/inter-milan-vs-fluminense-live/freestreams-inter-milan-vs-fluminense-live-stream-free-broadcast-on-tv-channel
Its more than just defense. They lose the ball too much. Theres no ball control or accurate passes. All I see is back passes after another.
And ppl really think just replacing bisseck will solve our problems in defense.
Nope, we need a proper CB
But the issue is the CDM, lost, can’t pass, too slow, points and tells the opposition where the balls going
He’s f**king abysmal
Man Inter passes are slow and horrendous. Can’t even hold onto possesion.
This team needs one sub to make things change positively
And we all know what it is..
Let’s see if chivu can work it out
Regardless of the start to this game, we have to start a new era!! I understand that Chivu is in a tricky position, and wants to do well in a tournament from which Inter management will want to rinse as much cash as possible, but changes have to be made!!
Sommer, Darmian, Acerbi, Miki… their time is done! We should have been using this tournament to blood in the next wave of players, like Martinez, Carboni, Berenbruch, Palacios, Pio etc… its time to move on from the Inzaghi era…..
Henrique and Sucic too, obviously!!!
wow. the number of times these fluminense players went down.
are they made of paper? or is it time wasting for 80 mins?
Yes, definitely time wasting and the naive ref keeps blowing the whistle
Sommer has been awful since that game against Barcelona. Asllani is a joke. I don’t know what he’s still doing at Inter.
Asllani somehow is in bed with every manager who manages inter just like the loser Gagliardini used to be.
Darmian is no longer in any condition to play for Inter. His cycle is over. It’s amazing how bad Inter’s defense has been lately.
Sloppy start, terrible defending, and piss poor goalkeeping from Sommer, who has not looked great this tournament….
Damn Sommers got to go. That was a horrible for him
Ffs great defending
Asllani and s already pissing off barella
why is Susic not playing? i thought Chivu was known for playing youngsters wtf?
F**k off asllani!!!!!!!
Play sucic ffs
Asllani is a joke, I’d prefer gagliardini
Hello Paulo, I understand your frustration on Asllani, and I too almost lost all my patience on him, but he is the only other player besides Barella on creating opportunities through the group stage among the 32 teams of top 10. He was not playing that bad. And apparently Chivu is playing Sucic as a sub of Miki or Barella, and if Asllani cant play, Chivu is using Barella as cdm and play Sucic and Miki in the front. So let see how it goes, and Asllani still has a chance to leave the club this summer, so Sucic will become a starter soon, hopefully.
It doesn’t matter the position, asllani isn’t good enough…
Sucic is literally a CDM
That’s his main position, I’d prefer a kid playing instead of asllani he’s a lost cause.
AND if you’re right and sucic is actually more of a frattesi replacement then we NEED a new CDM
We also NEED a new CB, darmian is washed and bisseck is in the same boat as asllani.
I’m at the game today. First time in person. It’s blazing hot out here
hope you’ll have a good time
Very jealous!! Not seen them live for a couple of years now….
This is a good exit point for this tournament,
So we’re stuck with the same 3-5-2 lineup forever!
