The Italian press have hit out at Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu after his side lost 4-3 to Juventus in the Derby d’Italia on Saturday.

Italian newspaper the Corriere della Sera have reflected on the match where Inter dominated the Bianconeri for large swathes.

However, the outlet claim that once again, defensive lapses led to the team throwing away their points.

Inter led the game 3-2 heading into the final ten minutes but a late double from Juventus switched the game on its head.

Whilst the team performed well in part, it is the head coach who has been attracting criticism.

The Corriere describe Chivu as being “halfway there.”

The paper wrote that “the old Inter” has gone and that “the new one does not compare.”

Chivu refused to change too much upon his arrival at Inter in the summer.

The Romanian took over from Simone Inzaghi but only marginally tweaked the pre-existing formation and tactics.

A strong summer transfer window was not enough to bring Inter into a new era.
