The rise of Ange-Yoan Bonny is becoming one of the defining early-season stories of Cristian Chivu’s Inter as the absence of Marcus Thuram hurts less than in the past, with the summer signing scoring the winner in the 1-0 win at Roma.

As highlighted by the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the 21-year-old “continues to conquer the pitch one goal at a time,” scoring his third goal of the season and second in a row.

Inside the Inter dressing room, Bonny is simply “Angelo,” and the newspaper described him as “increasingly a carbon-copy of Thuram.”

The reports note how closely his movement mirrors that of the injured Frenchman, who even travelled to Rome to support his teammate from the stands.

Before scoring against Svilar, Bonny momentarily hesitated, “as though he didn’t believe he was onside.”

However, once he realised the opportunity, he struck instinctively and punished Roma’s defensive line.

The report adds that Bonny impressed Inter’s fitness staff during the international break, working with intensity.

He showed in their words, the attitude of “a player who has no intention of sitting quietly behind Thuram and Lautaro.”

The numbers are now impossible to ignore.

In Serie A this season, no Inter player has contributed to more goals (3 goals + 3 assists), and Bonny is averaging one goal every 75 minutes – a scoring rhythm comparable to Nico Paz and Christian Pulisic, despite far fewer minutes on the pitch.
