Portuguese referee Luis Godinho fared well in last night’s Champions League clash between Inter Milan and Kairat Almaty.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, he made the correct calls in both penalty incidents.

Lautaro Martinez and Carlos Augusto scored on either side of halftime to inspire Inter to a hard-fought victory.

However, the match at San Siro produced several controversial moments, though Godinho handled the pressure well.

Godinho first awarded a penalty to Inter after Yann Bisseck went to the ground under the challenge from Ofri Arad.

However, the Portuguese referee overturned his decision after checking the incident on the side-pitch monitor.

Indeed, there wasn’t enough contact between the two players to justify a spot-kick.

Furthermore, Godinho refused to penalize Arad’s ‘soft’ tackle on Davide Frattesi.

Despite the Italian midfielder’s protests, the 39-year-old only waved ‘play on.’

Meanwhile, Godinho did not impress with his handling of bookings.

He should’ve shown Stefan de Vrij a yellow card toward the end of the first half.

Then, he booked Nicolo Barella in the second, though the decision was a bit excessive.
