Yann Sommer insists Inter Milan approach Sunday’s derby with confidence and clarity, stressing that motivation is never an issue for a fixture of this weight.
Speaking to DAZN, the Swiss international said the squad is “ready for tomorrow” and fully aware of what is at stake.
While he acknowledged the passion and pressure surrounding the match, he noted that “in the end the three points are what count, even if it’s a derby.”
Sommer made clear that Inter have prepared with attention to detail, explaining that the team have “worked on multiple options” and studied Milan carefully.
However, he emphasised that Inter intend to impose their own tempo at San Siro, adding: “We’ll try to play our game in front of our fans.”

Sommer also addressed Inter’s difficulties against Serie A’s top sides so far. “If we want to be at the top, we have to win these matches,” he said.
Indeed, noting that Inter have “learned from previous games” and aim to apply those lessons on Sunday.
The goalkeeper then spoke warmly about AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, calling him “a great goalkeeper” and “someone I really like also as a person.”
He stressed, however, that the derby will never be a duel between two keepers: “It’s not Sommer against Maignan, it’s Inter against Milan.”
