Inter Milan have reportedly made an inquiry about Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as a potential replacement for Yann Sommer.
According to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri have contacted the player’s agent to discuss the move.
Yann Sommer is on the verge of leaving San Siro.
Indeed, the veteran’s contract expires at the end of the season, with Inter reluctant to offer him a new deal.

Therefore, they’ve set their sights on several goalkeepers, including Elia Caprile and Noah Atubolu.

Caprile and Atubolu would be exciting long-term options for the Serie A leaders.
However, Martinez would be an immediate upgrade on the exit-bound Sommer.
Still, the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is 33, meaning he would only represent a short-term solution.
Despite his age, the former Arsenal star is one of the best keepers in Europe’s top five leagues.
Yet, his salary at Villa Park exceeds Inter’s budget.
As such, Martinez would have to take a substantial pay cut to faciliate his move to Italy.

Another old pap?

He is a dream.
