Inter legend Walter Zenga has praised Yann Sommer and his reliability while identifying potential successors in Vicario and Carnesecchi to the Swiss veteran at San Siro.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, the former Nerazzurri and Italy goalkeeper stressed that Sommer remains a dependable presence between the posts.
“First of all, if we start analysing a goalkeeper’s mistakes, we will never finish,” Zenga said.
“Yann is consistent and a guarantee. He has experience and quality to spare.”
Zenga also highlighted the Inter shot-stopper’s mentality and composure.
“What I like most is his self-control. Nothing unsettles him.”
Zenga Chooses Vicario & Carnesecchi As Sommer Successors At Inter

However, looking ahead to the future, the former Nerazzurri captain believes Inter should focus on Italian talent when the time comes to plan a succession.
“I would choose an Italian goalkeeper,” he explained.
“Vicario and Carnesecchi are at the front of the queue, then Caprile.”
Both Guglielmo Vicario and Marco Carnesecchi have impressed in Serie A and remain among the most highly rated goalkeepers of their generation.
Therefore, while Sommer continues to provide security and leadership, Zenga sees a clear pathway for Inter’s long-term future between the posts.

Zenga only opens his mouth to talk nonsense. I’ve never seen anything productive come out of his mouth. You can see why he hasn’t been successful as a coach. Sommer is long overdue to leave, but neither Vicario nor the other person mentioned is his replacement.
