After the 2-0 win in the Serie A at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district against Atalanta, Luciano Spalletti gave an interview to Sky Sport where he shared his thoughts as well as analyzed the fixture.
“The team had a good game, where they played as a team that know their abilities and know where to take the game. In the end we managed to win, which was hard since Atalanta is a very strong team. We just had to wait for the right moment, which we did on set pieces, which incidentally is the first time this season that Atalanta conceded a goal from a set piece. The team did well in pressing Atalanta, in certain moments the team fails to uphold continuity which is something we have to work on.”
Spalletti was then asked if Inter are the main challengers to Napoli for the Scudetto to which he replied “I do not know, we have some areas where we have to improve because the other teams are doing really well and we have to keep up with them. I want a team that puts the opponents under pressure on their half without going low when the oppponents have a “long” team.”
Spalletti was asked about his decision to play Davide Santon ahead of Dalbert saying “you tell me, Santon has always played for Inter, has proven himself, has the physics and two legs. Dalbert has to practice harder starting with tomorrow.”
In conclusion Spalletti was asked if he needs to use more players in his starting line-ups admitting that “we need another 4-5 starting players because the season is long and we need strong, healthy players at the same level as the ones we have now. The reason for playing with the same team for five matches in a row was to build up confidence. When the team is doing fine it is easier to change the team a bit more. Tonight Santon did really well and in the future we will definitely change more.”
Dalbert is on a fast train for a january loan, like i predicted back in august. at the moment he is 3rd choice for LB, and i think inter only sign FB’s to motivate nagambrosio since 2014. montoya, telles, dalbert, cancelo and santon himself were all just nagambrosio practice targets.
cancelo is considerd by spalletti as RM/RWF at the moment and i really cant see inter splash 35m for him in the summer as he barely gets on the field.
The boss has spoken
Daalbert definitely needs to adapt in italian style of playing..he can not just run like in Ligue 1, he needs to improve tactically and learn a lot.If that happens he is going to be really god solution for the left back position.
Santon did well, but, he also need some time to get confidence.
I am just wondering why Joao Mario does not get more chance to show what he’s capable for..he is much better than Brozovic, and he gets less playing time than the Croat.
Borja should get some time to rest, also.
That’s the why to spend our last money, and don’t get our much needed CB:
Put them all on someone with no tactical clue and needs to learn a lot about everything…
If that’s not a flop I really don’t know what is…
I would prefer Inter to buy players only from seria A teams. If player shows the real tactical abilities he can be used in our system.I agree about Daalbert but it might be early to say he is a flop(Cancelo definitely is), but let’s wait next half of the season to see if there is any improvement.
Exactly, serie a tested is often a good safety belt
I agree on the first part but I believe in Cancelo more than Dalbert
imo, regarding months he didn’t play for 90 minutes, santon did well. If he is regularly fit and consistent, our LB at least will be safe for this season (with 3 players try their best to steal that spot)
The beauty is that Santon can play left or right.
Santon physically fit would be our best quality full back.
dalbert will adapt.. it takes certain player longer time.. but spalletti will get him in gear.
Would you guys swap dalbert with r. rodriguez?
Nope
I would
I would. Cause in Serie A it is crucial for the coaches that the FBs can defend, and Rodriguez is the left-footed D’Ambrosio!
Yes.
Honestly, I would switch Dalbert with 25 LB that come to mind in a heartbeat.
About 12 already in serie A.
Total flop.
Anyway, both santon and naga are better, so it’s game over for Dalbert.
Hopefully someone comes in and offer 10m, but its not probable.
Hopefully we can at least use him as exchange material with a medium level team.
He is has officially been a flop.
Past tense.
i’m just really happy for santon; last of the treble era!
i hope dalbert don’t flop. damn, all the hardwork to get him.. smh
Dalbert so far is a flop. I dont understand why we didn’t try to sign Kolarov for free!
Building for the future. I hope he isn’t a flop.
High salary?
we paid 20 odd million for him, 6-7 million on salary is still cheaper than that.
Well how’d you think other player like icardi, handa, n perisic handle it?that’s will push our key players to ask to raise their salary n make disharmony in dressing room.
I was thinking the same about kolarov. He is a steal for Roma. As for Dalbert part, I would give him more chances before I judge him.
How on earth can consider him a flop when he has barely played. If he’s not selected he can’t prove himself. Like Gabigol, how can you call him a flop when played the last 5 minutes of 7 or 8 games. He even scored in one of those tiny windows.
He played 3 and a half games, in 5 games altogether.
He has been training with us for 4 months and Spalletti sees him daily.
Bottom line :
Naga and Santon are better and , relatively speaking ,Dalbert sucks.
He may be good in Bologna, for Inter he sucks.
Sorry but…certain facts are just what they are.
