Inter gets one point from the home game against Napoli, a point that allows the team to still be in contact with Lazio and the 4th place for that last UCL spot. Inter coach Luciano Spalletti gave his views of the game in an interview with Premium Sport:
How do you rate this performance? “I think this was a good game, and by that I mean the level of intentions. They did better than us because they have the Sarri method, which the entire team knows. We were good at putting pressure and then backing off waiting. Napoli force you to play lower and we could have gotten off to a bad start. But some of the situations we took advantage of, others we did halfway. It is ok like that.”
You still aim for the UCL, but AC Milan is doing really well at the moment “We are like this, in some situations we manage to do more than expected in others we throw away possession. Some moments we have continuity while in other we just give away the ball to our opponents.”
The team has showed the right attitude tonight, maybe more points would have been gained if the team would have had the same attitude in other games? Why did you change positions on Cancelo and D’Ambrosio? “Cancelo is a player that if he plays badly on the right, he tells you that he should play 10 meters up in the pitch and if you play him on the left he tells you he should play at the right. Most players are like that, he in particular is like that. I wanted to give D’Ambrosio the opportunity to mark Insigne. He knows how to play with both his feet, he and he knows how to get out of difficult situations, typical for a trequartista. Therefore I changed.”
But howcome Inter does not have a “Spallettismo” like in Roma? Is this because of a lack of quality? “The game is all about knowing where to place Inter. We have had a tough period with a lot of poor games, but we have never played a great football because we do not have all the qualities that people claims. You have to be careful because if you want to play at the opponents half you need to know what you have behind. If you want to keep the play on their half with the opponents putting pressure on us, you must have the qualities needed in order to go beyond their defensive line with two touches. Napoli has that quality, we on the other hand…”
Screw you! You ruined the game when you subed Rafinha and put in useless Eder. YOU blew it!
Did he really say this or is it just bad translation? Because when he was asked to rate his team from 1 to 10 he said 10…
Spallo is the right man for Inter’s primadonnas. He’s got a refined tough love method that Mazzarri and especially De Boer lacked and knows how to motivate his players without breaking their spirits. But it’s gonna take time to instill a big team mentality back into them. It’s obvious the problems in the team are (and always have been) psychological and changing coach every year just prolongs the situation. I hope he stays next year, even if we don’t reach CL. Especially if we don’t.
Haha finally he lost his temper… good one spalletti, bravo
we need trequartista like Leon Goretzka, but he will join Bayern Munich for free.. maybe Julian Draxler can be a good choice for trequartista role at Inter..
and Inter need 2 explosive winger, Bernard for free it’s okey but we need superstar at this position..Anthony Martial is a good option, we need exchange Perisic plus Money to deal it..
with Icardi sold to Real or Muenchen with 160 million euro (new release clause), Inter has some money to re-invest.
Only 6 players should ke kept, Samir – Skriniar – Miranda – Borja – Rafinha – and Icardi.
The rest can go f*ck themselves.
Absolutely
How about Cancelo and Karamo?
Borja….. why should we keep middle class midfielders with no vision no pass no shot. Borja the 0 assist man who only pass the ball <10 meters
Well, he has more than 90 % pass accuracy. The only problem is he’s playing with dumbhead surrounds him who don’t know where to move after the given pass.
He speaks the truth. Quality players look to go forward. These players look to pass back constantly. There is not one good team in the world that passes as poorly as Inter, none! It’s hard to believe they are professional players that train together daily. It’s difficult to watch.
Wow, this is weird. He always said we have quality players (which we don’t, but he keep saying we are). And why spaletti said it now, in most crucial periode of the season, and when we got relatively good result?
I think he try to send message to management, but the timing is just weird
I guess it is just a change of tactic, he’s tried the constant praise and defending the team, and the performances have been disgusting, he has been vocal about needing signing before though,
lol, prefer on experienced-zero mentality-players than pushing youngsters to prove themselves…this conservational way tho..this makes me thinking, if only we held onto fdb, who wasn’t afraid playing the youngsters, in at least half season or one season, maybe just maybe we right now would see the problem from another perspective. Because most of the coaches that come and go had the same pattern playing with experienced-players and didn’t want to risk anything, instead had the same output with him (being fired). If the conservational coach wasn’t work, strictly-outspoken coach wasn’t work, so the problem could be proved right to management’s minds (that’s maybe not the coach’s lack of skill, but maybe the players or the management themselves). Hope spaletti reads this pattern and the management could evaluate their marketing strategy. Again, who am I to tell this? just imo LOL
All things considered, I think that it was a good decision to fire fdb, he also had a disastrous with Crystal Palace
He pointed out ..definitely..candy,perisic, dumbro, eder must be out
Even if we buy an entire new XI it doesnt guarantee quality . Milan for example
Napoli on the other hand buy smart . They don’t spend much so how do they have quality?
1- NOT idiot sporting directors
2- NOT wasting youth products
3- NOT having nonexisting owners
Lol! Yea Milan is a good example olryt..the difference is,the only thing missing after buying a starting XI is chemistry,Napoli only became top class because theyve had the same squad for over 2 years, and added new players here and there,Milan on the other hand, are over 9 games unbeaten in Seria A,and Inters form is virtually the opposite.Inter got lucky in the beginnig of the season now the true levels of the squads a beginning to reflect.Terrible example from a bitter Inter fan, lol, its only a matter of time when we breach 4th on the table,as for you guys..lol.well..
Have to agree with Spaletti for the most part- a good performance in terms of attitude and work rate, but severely lacking in quality in the final third. If he wants to continue with a 4-2-3-1 next season, we basically need a new 3 behind the striker! In terms of numbers, you want 2 players for every position- and as only Karamoh and Rafihna are worth keeping, we need to sign 4 attacking players- 3 wingers and a number 10…. with all of the financial restrictions we are facing, good luck!
Dude, he clearly said inter lacks quality…
That’s why I said I agree with him!
Haha Spal is tired of bullshiting us and being frank now
aaaand watch out, don’t want him to be like the other frank after voicing his mind
Truer words were never spoken
Waaw spellatti “when reality hits”
