Luciano Spalletti answered the questions of the gathered journalists in his post-match press conference after Inter were brought back crashing down to earth by Atalanta.

“During this last period we have done a lot of good things at every level, today we failed that but Atalanta had a great game today and we just were not ready for their impact. The difference between the two teams should be lesser in comparison to what we saw in the first half, where we were awful, even tactically and we were poor in our possession play.”

Spalletti was asked if there was a lack of concentration on the player’s part.

“We always try to anticipate the pitfalls, both on and off the field, but this period has been a tough one. And one of our defects is not being consistent for longer periods. Something that we still have to work on. But what is clear from today’s performance is that we did not perform well, something that comes naturally after a long streak of victories.”

He concluded by commenting on the contrast between Atalanta and Inter’s attacks.

“They were much better than us and they were very good in picking the kind of players that have these certain characteristics. Today we just did not manage to resist their attack nor damage them with our own attack.”
