Former Juventus executive Beppe Marotta has finally stepped out of the dark and commented on the rumours linking him with Inter.

“Me at Inter? Yes, that is possible,” Marotta said during an award ceremony in Castelfranco Veneto. “Certainly I will stay in Italy” – he added, something that Corriere dello Sport reports of and thereby confirms that the ex-Juve General Director is close to Inter.

The Rome-based newspaper then continues: “An opening that marks sort of a countdown to Marotta joining Inter, maybe a bit subtle but what is underlying is clear to see. After 7 years and 14 trophies with Juventus, he will, according to some hints, team up with Piero Ausilio. Marotta himself says that he does not want to talk about it, and in any case it will take some time before he can join the arch-rival of Juventus after doing his best at Juventus for 7 years.

“Suning wants to repeat the work done at Juventus where he had alongside of him one of the most experienced managers in Italian football together with the inexperienced Andrea Agnelli.” – is something that also Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport underlines – “something that is somewhat similar to what is happening now at Inter with the newly appointed president Steven Zhang. Zhang who in secret met with Marotta twice and with whom he immediately got a great feeling.”
