Nicolas Tagliafico’s agent admits the Ajax defender would love to play for Inter but insists there are no talks in progress with the Nerazzurri.

Ajax would reportedly be prepared to sell the full-back for just €15 million and Inter are one of several top European clubs thought to be interested.

Tagliafico himself admitted earlier this month he was flattered by the rumours, revealing Inter’s vice-president Javier Zanetti had been an idol of his since childhood.

Speaking to FcInterNews.it today, the 28-year-old’s agent Ricardo Schlieper explained: “Inter are clearly a top club but Nico only responded to a direct question (about their interest).

“Who wouldn’t want to play for a club as prestigious and important as the Nerazzurri? Everyone would.

“The same phrase could apply to any top European club though.

“There is nothing concrete with Inter because our partner in Italy, with whom I am in constant contact, has not spoken to me about anything.

“I haven’t spoken to Zanetti for a while, either.

“It’s still early to determine Tagliafico’s future, we need to analyse a lot of aspects so we’ll see what happens.”

Tagliafico had the chance to leave Ajax last summer but ultimately remained after COVID-19 reduced the scope for clubs to complete big transfer deals.

He seems likely to leave at the end of the current season after producing another impressive season for the Eredivisie leaders.

“We’re in agreement with Ajax that should a suitable offer arrive, Nicolas would be free to leave,” Schlieper added.

Asked if Tagliafico would be able to adapt to Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system, Schlieper assured: “Definitely, he is very capable and intelligent on both a personal and tactical level.

“He’s always managed to adapt well to whatever situation he found himself in, carrying out the instructions of the many coaches who’ve managed him.”

Tagliafico has made 39 appearances in all competitions for Ajax this season, scoring once and providing four assists.
