Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco has sustained a muscle strain ahead of the club’s encounter against Lecce.

This is another blow for the Nerazzurri who had already announced earlier in the day that club captain Lautaro Martinez is out due to a similar case.

But while the Argentine was expected to undergo medical tests after exiting the pitch in agony on Wednesday night, Dimarco’s case came out of the blue.

The club’s website announced the news on Friday evening through an official note.

“Federico Dimarco underwent instrumental tests this afternoon at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano. The Nerazzurri wingback sustained a muscle strain in the adductor of the left thigh,” reads the club’s statement.

“His condition will be re-evaluated in the coming days.”

Therefore, we shall wait for further updates on the Italian’s condition next week.

But in the meantime, FcInterNews expects the former Parma man to miss the encounter against Genoa on Friday 29th as well.

The source believes Dimarco will try to make his return to action in the first match of 2024. The Beneamata will host Hellas Verona on January 6th.

This is yet another blow for Simone Inzaghi who will have to cope without his influential star on the left flank.

Dimarco contributed with three goals and five assists across all competitions this term.

In his absence, Carlos Augusto will be the natural option to start in the left wingback role against Lecce.
