At the end of the Roma match at Lincoln Financial Field, Walter Mazzarri responded to reporters at a press conference. This is what the Nerazzurri coach had to say:
What does the team get out of a match against an Italian side?
“To build a mentality and get back to the top it’s important to have good performances and earn results. The victory helps the team’s self-esteem and does us good.”
Is it important to make it to the final and win it?
“We did everything we had to do. We’re pleased with the outcome: three games against high-level sides. It would be fantastic if we could win the tournament.”
Are you optimistic after the start of this pre-season?
“Yes, I am. Both the new players and the ones that were already here are already doing what I need from them. Vidic provides the team with confidence. After a full season we know each other better and that’s something positive.”
How did Roma seem to you? And any comments on Dodò?
“He showed up with the right attitude, and he’ll have a great future if he continues this way. We’re a tough team. Roma are still a great side with a squad that commands respect and an excellent coach. In the summer you can’t judge things the way you do during the season, but I think we did a good job.”
Thohir spoke about Hernandez. What do you think about that?
“I don’t talk about the transfer market so I certainly won’t comment on that. I don’t know what the situation is and I think it’s something for the president and our sporting director Piero Ausilio to discuss.”
Vidic was very dangerous. Did you also sign him for his aerial ability?
“That too. We knew he was a quality player and he’s showing it in many ways.”

i’m starting to like this new inter. 3-5-2 is formation that doesn’t have defensive attributes, it is about coach and even more about players. we’ve seen united playing 3-5-2 very effective in terms of possession and i believe we have players of similar quality.
handanovic : medel-rannochia-vidic : m’vila-hernanes-kovacic : icardi-(new striker) could actually challenge top european clubs and bring us scudetto
There is huge difference between how Man Utd play and Inter. They play 3-4-1-2 with wing-backs who are originally wingers (fast, good dribblers, good crosses). Inter play a more defensive 3-5-1-1. One real attacker and 5 defenders ( 3 centrebacks and 2 fullbacks).
i think this season mazzari will bring inter better than last year
I think that mazzari give the positive mentallity to this team, inter now is always fight to win the ball, even sometimes they still slow to move and make a really bad long ball…Playing attractive football is not only about the formation, but about the mentallity, movement, and how to make the player confident to make a difference.. and so far we can see it in the beginning last season before alvarez, zanetti and also many key player injured..
why should we play 4 at back whyyyy we have one of best defences around and in modern football every player must attack and defend
i dont agree lads..we can seen 3 5 2 with optional application became a main formation for holland,mu, liverpool, jube etc ….forza mazzari….all internisti wait for a upcoming reputation!
I don’t like him still, all he thinks about is defending with all that power we have those players need to be unleashed, he’s limiting them dambrosio and andreolli r my favorite players, sow much thinking and tactics burns u out. Mazzari is scared of loosing his job, sow safety is he’s priority.
Im starting to like this coach’s work but only if he changes the 3-5-2 formation to Mourinho’s formation of 4-2-3-1
