On Sunday, August 23, the Serie A 2015/16 will officially begin for Inter and despite a pre-season that has been anything but exciting, Inter president Erick Thohir seems confident about the season that the Nerazzurri are going to face: “I’m optimistic that Roberto Mancini is the best choice for Inter with his past successes. Perhaps many people regard the results of the pre-season negatively but what matters is the league. I’m optimistic, I’m a fan and I think the players Mancini has in the team at the moment are very good. Murillo, Miranda, Jovetic and Kondogbia are all great players and I hope that young players can make their contribution.”
The Indonesian president also spoke about the transfer market during the discussion forum of Detiksport in Jakarta: “I think in the last sessions of the transfer market we have signed many players for whom we have spent a lot, obviously it can not be the only way because the situation becomes unbalanced. Because of the rules of FFP we were forced to sell the talented Croatian, a very difficult choice for me. There is a risk that he will shine elsewhere like Pirlo and Coutinho, if we let players go who have proved to be flops people won’t remember it, you see only those who have been successful. I think it also depends on the system of each coach. And the Italian league is not tactically as open as the Premier League or La Liga. It’s a situation we face, but until August 31, anything can happen. It is possible that Ivan Perisic arrives, but everyone will be a player for Inter, who is needed in the club, not a whim of mine.”
The signing campaign therefore continues with Ivan Perisic as first objective, but not only: “Other players will come, I’m sure. But if that happens it will not be defenders. In midfield we have quality players, I’m sure that some attackers will come. Four strikers are too few.”
He also mentioned another great sacrifice of this transfer market, Xherdan Shaqiri: “He was not in accord with Mancini and his strategies. The sale of him, just like that of Kovacic, was done to balance the budget.”
A squad, the Nerazzurri, that still must be trimmed. And the Inter president explained the reasons: “In Italy we can register 25 players, so we have to sell three more. Also, because if Inter reach Europe we will only be allowed 21 players like City or PSG.”
On the objectives for the season: “I’m sure Mancini will deliver on the promise of bringing Inter to the Champions League and I’m convinced that during this season Inter will return to compete at the top. Roberto was the best signing of club.”

I just dont understand what the strategy is. We have virtually no players with vision except maybe Jovetic and Hernanes but we all know that Jovetic is likely to struggle to stay fit for the season and Hernanes is not the player he was a couple of years ago.
Then we have players like Vidic, Dodo, Andreolli, Rannochia, Guarin, several fullbacks, and Palacio who are all either getting worse, were never good enough or have no value still loitering around the club. How are these guys still there? There were so many promises of a youth revolution but it seems that every season we fall back on the old guard and rotate the two or three younger players who are in the squad.
I predict that despite what the President says we have no chance of competing at the top. I look at this squad and it seems set up to defend, I just cant see where the goals are going to come from, who is going to break down defensive lines, where the creativity is.
True. If Inter does not sign 2-3 quality players and get rid of garbage, Inter cannot compete with Juve, Roma, Napoli, Lazio and even Milan and Fiorentina.
We have to get rid of Vidic, Dodo, Nagatomo, Juan Jesus, Guarin.
We have to sign with Gabbiadini, Quintero/Lamela and maybe Balotelli (fans do not like him, but remember he became a footballer from our home primavera and Mancini is the only person who can play Balotelli properly).
Nagatomo is gone, Genoa is going to pay a mighty 2m sum for him! 1 down, a lot more to go
Naga is the only one that should stay
Do you know how to sell garbage player? If you are a president club, please expalin to me how to sell the player you said.
last year problem was our defence we draw way too many games and now we have strong backline lineup.so we are better then last year for sure.that means 15-20 goals less then last season.. i know Kova left but we will sign someone who will help us for sure.im attack we are stronger too,Jovetic is good and with some luck he can stay fit for some time + we will get some good winger.. by good i mean that he will help us reach that fucking CL goal.im optimistic as always, now lets see what will happen on sunday.Forza Inter!!
I agree with most of your points, but not all. While I do agree with what you said on Jovetic and Hernanes, I will counter you with the opinion that even though Kovacic has the right qualities and potential to play in that critical role behind the strikers and feed them with balls, the truth of the matter is that he is too young and that we rarely saw useful moves from him in that part of the field. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say that he is a bad player or anything, he is good, and will become amazing, but Inter need someone that can deliver RIGHT NOW. Why? Because we are in our fourth “year zero”!!! That’s extremely disappointing for everyone, I’m sure.
So, what are Inter to do, they don’t have a lot of income (no european competitions, stadium is almost never full), they HAD to buy a lot of players and there is the FFP lurking from the shadows, and that can only mean one thing – selling. I know it would have been perfect if we sold the dead weights, but the truth is that they are hard to sell 🙂 who would want a pidgeon killer for example? If you ask me, we had an amazing transfer window:
– Mirana and Murillo look very solid, and I would be the most grateful person in the world if I don’t have to see Ranoshit’s face on the pitch this season
– Jovetic is a very good player, I know his fitness is worrying, but we will see how it goes
So, those are 2 critical parts of the team we needed to fix, and we did. We are still missing fullbacks and now a trequartista with the sale of Kovacic, I hope we will manage to buy someone before the window closes.
My main point is, given the circumstances, Inter did great this summer. We, the fans, have a problem – we are looking at Inter through the eyes of the past, when we had a lot of money and the italian league was among the best. Well, reality check – Inter do not have a lot of money right now, even if they did, there is the FFP, and we don’t play in Europe. And even so, we managed to snatch a world-class talent like Kondogbia. We also got a Barcelona player who could have happily play as a substitute and win trophies, a striker from City (title contenders), the best young player from Copa America etc… do you think that’s bad? I don’t. I think it’s amazing.
if pedro join chealsea, we can get willian. it will be perfect for us
THOHIR, WHO IS INTER’S # 10 NOW? YOU NEED TO SIGN AN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER WHO WEARS 10. PLUS YOU HAVE TO SIGN ANOTHER CLASS STRIKER. YOUR TARGETS SHOULD BE GABBIADINI AND QUINTERO/LAMELA. SINCE MANCINI IS LIKE A FATHER OF BALOTELLI, WHY SIGN HIM. HE CAN EASILY SCORE AT LEAST 10-15 GOALS FOR INTER PER SEASON.
1. GABBIADINI / BERARDI
2. QUINTERO / LAMELA
3. BALOTELLI / BORINI
4. CRISCITO
Jovetic is our #10 now. and the only attacking midfielder you mentioned is only Quintero and i am sure we can’t afford him. Patience, my friend, the mercato isn’t over yet.
Sell kova like big punch.. so brain of management dislocation in to the knee.. why not sell guarin and hernanes, rano, naga,. They are arround 35-40 mil euro and your squad is slim thohir.. stupid statement.
Really difficult choice? Selling a youngster we paid 14mil for 2 years ago for 28mil? I see a suit who sees 100% profit… make it 200% since jt was moratyis buy… 35mil for kdog? He was a 22mil max playet and imbula wad max 16mil… ifnlated numbers but I guess I applied to kova too.. hes not a 28mil player… hes a 18mil playet who has the postential to be a world beater… but for now hes not a team changer… and nevet will be ig he stays contents do what makes him safe reather than pushing to male his team look better sometimes at yhe mistake of a costly error… like most regista. And he js a regista btw.
35 million
I accept your excuse about FFP regulation. But you sell the WRONG player. Why didn’t you sell players like Guarin, Rano, Nagatomo, Scheloto or ANdreolli? They are senior players who haven’t lived up our expectation
Agree…
Because either they never got any offers, or they are just enjoying high wage here and refuse to go to a smaller club.
who would buy them tho? you can’t just sell players by magic; you have to find a buyer, and nobody wants them because of their wages or performance or both
Actually many clubs wanted them. Guarin, for example, has so many clubs that intent to sign him from last season. I don’t know what kind of trick he play to lure Mancini and management to keep him. He’s inconsistent but always secure a regular spot. This is ridiculous.
liar!
Apparently it’s not that hard, you just looking for a quick cash by selling Kova.
Hes gonna sell majority share to a bank and we will have dhareholders like arsenal in the future. He wants tk make us Arsenal
Captain.. Why we can submit 25 player but we just can register 21 player if we reach europe? Is it FFP sanction or what? Please somebody explain it to me.
I think so
Inter is facing FFP sanction right now. Last season they got about 7 mil. euro for FFP sanction. This mercato, after Kondogbia and other players arrival, their book (financial) is not in the good condition which will cause us another FFP sanctions either in sum of money or limited 21 players if we qualify for Europe next season
I see.. Its a bad bad bad situation right now. We really need to qualify for UCL next season and expand our market in China and Indonesia as soon as we can. We need to gain revenue soon. Anw, thanks a lot @abhinaya.
Maybe now you need sell Icardi.Do it!
