Tuttosport are in no doubt; Ricardo Rodríguez will be an Inter player before long.
Sporting director Piero Ausilio met with Gianluca Di Domenico, the Swiss left back’s agent, on Monday.
An agreement on personal terms is close and there will soon be another meeting in order to iron out a few minor details.
However, it will be much more difficult to reach a deal with Wolfsburg seeing as the Nerazzurri are reluctant to pay the player’s €22 million release clause in full.
Volkswagen have been forced to cut their funding of the Lower Saxony club by €20 million, therefore the Wolves intend to raise as much cash as possible via the sale of Rodríguez.
Inter are set to offer €15 million plus €4 million in bonuses as, with the player’s heart set on a move to Milan, they believe Wolfsburg would find it difficult to refuse such a deal.

I’m worried because a lot of people from Budesliga have recently talked how he has been mediocre for some time. He had great times and let’s hope he can do that for us. Because otherwise our fullback mediocrity saga will continue…
Wolfsburg as a team has been mediocre for some time, so it’s only natural he has seen a dip in form, especially playing out of position this season! They’ve lost a lot of talent over the past 6-7 years: Draxler, Schurrle, De Bruyne, Perisic, Mandzukic, Dzeko, Barzagli, and the the tragic loss of Malanda. Although most were great deals economically, constantly cycling through key players like that is not healthy for a club, and will eventually cause issues, which it is now. My guess is that once Rodriguez gets to the positive and motivating environment at Inter that Pioli has created, we will see a quick turn around in his form!
True, but just because a team is underperforming doesn’t mean there can be good players playing for them. And I’m talking about poor form before he was moved to a centerback position. I mean just look at it like this – €22m is nothing for a great 24 year old fullback. Why is nobody contesting us?
There are plenty of other suitors: PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal to name a few, but it seems he prefers Inter due to having an all but guaranteed starting spot, and it’s closer to his home in Switzerland.
Yeah I heard he would prefer Italy but there is no significant pressure from other teams. We’ll see, I’m just a bit skeptic about this deal, but maybe it works us. Only time will tell if this deal happens and if it happens, if it’ll be good.
this, remember me when Inter sign Alvaro Pereira, no such contest and sign him for €10 million. like a steal, but then he was a flop…
I’m also a bit skeptical, mostly about his fitness and mentality, but those can both be fixed over time. He has class, and plenty of it: I was enamored with his vision and crossing ability when he was first receiving recognition. Out of all of our options for left back, I think he has the highest ceiling by far: he was considered the best left back in the world by many, including myself, once Alaba was moved to CB by Guardiola and Marcelo lost form. If he finds his top form at Inter, he could be our savior at fullback, maybe even reminiscent of the Maicon days.
me too, and that’s why no one wants to buy him right now
It may work if the players is unwanted by any teams. But in this case, wolfsburg can easily find buyer who can fulfill 22m price tag. Please dont lose him inter 🙁
very good, ASAP take him to us…please
Oh, for a left footed left back!! If it does happen, it will be the first time since Maxwell that we may actually pose a threat from the left…
