Inter Milan failed to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window despite identifying numerous potential targets.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri didn’t address one major shortcoming this winter.

Cristian Chivu was desperate to sign a reliable replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who has been in the pits since November.

However, Inter couldn’t complete any incoming deal despite trying to sign both Ivan Perisic and Moussa Diaby until the end.

PSV Eindhoven and Al-Ittihad were reluctant to sell their stars on Inter’s terms.

Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo chose Barcelona instead of San Siro at the beginning of the transfer window.

Furthermore, Inter had made a feeble attempt to lure Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Genoa.

However, the Englishman remains a concrete target for the Serie A giants heading into the summer transfer window.

In addition to Croatian starlet Leon Jakirovic, the Nerazzurri signed Yanis Massolin from Modena.

Yet, the French midfielder will stay in Serie B on loan until the end of the season.
