Mateo Kovačić is called to Croatia’s friendly against Switzerland and in an interview with Croatian gol.hr he talked also about his situation at Inter. Kovačić has played in a total of 25 games , but only 10 from the start and in 6 of these , he has been replaced.
“I feel good even though I haven’t played in a while. I’m ready for all the games. I didn’t expect this situation, in the recent past I haven’t played much under the current coach and therefore I’ve spent a lot of time on the bench. But I want to work well anyway to prepare for the World Cup. If I play well with the national team in this game, it could give me more space at Inter. I can’t expect a big change after one game but coming back will certainly be beneficial.”
To a question about Mazzarri’s criticism of his play Mateo replied: “It’s not for me to comment on the coach’s decisions, he arguably prefers a more defensive style, while I prefer a more attacking football. I have to get used to it, I have no choice, but I need time. Sooner or later there will be room for everyone.”
On Inter’s recent signing Hernanes who will be his opponent in the World Cup: “We haven’t talked much about the game, but when it comes to Inter, I can say that he is the right reinforcement for us, he’s a top player and a very good buy.”
On the situation at Inter: “It’s a difficult time for me, I’m not used to being on the bench. I need time to readjust myself, I think I can do it.”

Kovacic has a potential to be a world class player, but first he needs chances and he has to work hard in his defensive ability and his ability to shoot, let us not accuse WM of having a problem with young players, in Napoli he let Lavezzi go in order to provide some space for Insigne, not to mention he gave JJ a chance he never had at Inter (he is the only Inter Df that hasn’t been affected with the rotation), while Icardi needs to get his head out of Wanda’s tits and start focusing in his physical condition, and yes DM is the most difficult position in serie A even the great young players such as Marco Verrati and Paul Pogba is having a hard time playing in that position IN Serie A.

The name kuzmanovic doesn’t even sound like a football name. He’s 000 in everything. Kovacic attacks but he does not make treats to the opposition defence that could lead to goal. Mazzari should be the one to help that lil kid but he’s just another dumb ass coach.

Well, you need to be more objective here, Kuz is doing so well recently but on the defense only, Kuz and Kovacic are on the opposite of polars, while Kovacic are big zero of defense, Kuz are big zero of attack, come on, his defending are great yes, but he can’t accelerate and penetrate as good as Kovacic not to mention his accuracy of passes.
Kovacic looked worse because Mazzarri didn’t put him on the right post but as a DM which in serie-a is the hardest position to bare especially for kid at his age, he has talent needed to develop in the next 2-3 years but obviously only if he can have enough portion of play time and trust.
