Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are keen to try and sign Inter wingback Robin Gosens during the upcoming transfer window.

This according to German news outlet Kicker, via FCInterNews, who report that the 28-year-old is on the German team’s radar as a possible replacement for left-back Paulo Otavio who is set to depart when his contract expires at the end of June.

There have been a number of rumours about Gosens’s future at Inter for some time, prompted by the fact that the former Atalanta man has never quite managed to nail down a starting role since joining the club in the January transfer window of last season.

Injuries have played a major role in the German not being able to show the same kind of form that he had so often done at La Dea, at least not on a consistent basis.

Meanwhile, the likes of Ivan Perisic last season and Federico Dimarco this time around have kept Gosens out of the starting eleven for long spells with the form that they’ve shown.

This has meant that some clubs have sensed a potential opportunity to sign Gosens, with teams in the Bundesliga among the keenest.

Bayer Leverkusen have been persistently linked, have been reported to have tried to sign the wingback at the end of last summer, whilst they would reportedly be ready to offer former Paris Saint-Germain wingback Mitchel Bakker as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

Meanwhile, a host of German clubs including Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach were reportedly interested in signing Gosens in January of this season.

Wolfsburg themselves had registered an interest in Gosens a few months ago, although the player stayed at Inter.

According to Kicker, the team are keen to move for the 28-year-old as a replacement for Otavio, with the Brazilian out of contract at the end of the season and coach Niko Kovac seeing the Inter player as an ideal replacement.

However, the fact that Gosens is under contract with Inter until the end of June 2026 would mean that the potential fee and wages involved in a deal would be a significant stumbling block towards Wolfsburg signing the German.
