Beppe Marotta and Simone Inzaghi will meet after the Champions League final to discuss the coach’s future at Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the pair will have frank talks about what the situation will be going into next season when the season is all over and done with.
Now, it looks very clear that Inzaghi will stay Inter Milan coach for another season.
Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang has confirmed as much. So has CEO Marotta.
However, as Tuttosport notes, the fact that these confirmations weren’t made earlier shows that the club have been as uncertain as everyone else about the future of Inzaghi, at least until recently.
The former Lazio coach has evidently earned his place for next season. Inzaghi has guided the team to the Champions League final, and a top four finish in Serie A is well within reach.
Marotta & Inzaghi To Discuss Inter Milan Future After June 10
There are still a lot of assessments for the club to make, however. This is especially true of CEO Marotta.
The CEO will have to decide whether to hand Inzaghi a new deal. The coach’s current contract runs out at the end of next June.
Marotta cannot truly get a 360 degree view of the season until the final whistle of the Champions League final.
Inter must still wrap up their league campaign, as their top four spot isn’t safe yet. And then the Nerazzurri could either finish the campaign trophyless apart from the Supercoppa Italiana, or end by winning the Coppa Italia, the Champions League, or both.
Given this, and given the rollercoaster season Inter have had so far, Marotta will have a lot to factor in.
Tuttosport report that only when the dust has settled after the Champions League final will the CEO sit down with Inzaghi.
