Inter Milan are close to extending the contracts of defender Stefan de Vrij and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who anticipate the pair will follow Alessandro Bastoni in signing new deals soon.
Now that Inter have booked their place in the Champions League final, they’re ready to get to work on contract extensions for some key members of the squad.
The first on the agenda is Bastoni. The 23-year-old ex-Atalanta defender’s deal expires at the end of June 2024. However, the Nerazzurri are wasting no time on an extension, which is expected so come very soon.
Inter won’t be anywhere near finished after Bastoni signs a new deal, however.
The next two to get new contracts will be de Vrij and Calhanoglu, Tuttosport reports.
Inter Milan To Secure Futures Of Both De Vrij & Calhanoglu
First up is de Vrij.
The 31-year-old Dutch international’s current contract runs out at the end of next month.
Villarreal have reportedly offered the 31-year-old a contract for next season to replace ex-Napoli and Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol.
Meanwhile, all of Atletico Madrid, Leicester City, and Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing de Vrij. The ex-Lazio and Feyenoord defender would have several options before him.
According to Tuttosport, however, an agreement on a new deal with Inter is likely to come soon.
Moreover, the Nerazzurri won’t stop there.
Tuttosport confirm reports that Calhanoglu will be soon to follow Bastoni as well. Gianluca Di Marzio also expects that the 29-year-old former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen will extend his deal.
Like Bastoni, Calhanoglu’s contract runs out at the end of next June. However, as with the defender Calhanoglu is a key player. Inter will aim to have the Turkish international’s future secured well before then.
