Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar is partially back in training, with next month’s Champions League final against Man City looming.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Slovakian was at the club’s training centre, though not yet fully involved in the team training session.

Skriniar is currently recovering from back surgery that he received last month.

The former Sampdoria man went under the knife to receive lumbar spine surgery to treat an issue that had been affecting him since the end of February.

Skriniar has only appeared once for Inter since he started to experience the injury. That was a cameo appearance in the second leg of the Champions League round of sixteen tie against Porto.

Given that the 28-year-old is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, he is running out of time to play for Inter again.

There is zero chance of Skriniar being fit for any of the Nerazzurri’s three matches before the final. He will not be ready for the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina tomorrow. Nor for Serie A matches against Atalanta and Torino.

Race Against Time For Skriniar To Be Fit To Face Man City

Skriniar could still get the chance to take the pitch in a Nerazzurri shirt one last time, however.

The final of the Champions League against City arrives in just under three weeks.

It is true that the Slovakian is not ending Inter on the best of terms. CEO Beppe Marotta admits that there is some lingering bitterness regarding the manner in which Skriniar has decided not to extend his contract.

However, the former Sampdoria still has the chance to end his time at the club on a high note.

The Gazzetta report that Skriniar spoke to his teammates in the locker room after last week’s win over Milan.

Now, the Slovakian is partially back in training. It could be a race against time for him to be fit for next month’s final against City.
