Inter Milan President Steven Zhang has once again confirmed that Simone Inzaghi will remain as coach next season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri President gave his emphatic backing to the coach who had just guided the Nerazzurri to their second consecutive Coppa Italia title.

There has been something of a dramatic turnaround for Inzaghi at Inter. A few weeks ago, there were suggestions that the former Lazio coach was on the verge of being sacked.

The likes of Bologna’s Thiago Motta and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi had been rumoured as potential replacements.

Were Inzaghi to be on his way, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in his signature. Now, however, it is absolutely abundantly clear that Inzaghi will stay.

Zhang has already confirmed as much, after Inter reached the Champions League final. CEO Beppe Marotta has also done the same.

Inter Milan President Steven Zhang: “No Doubt” Simone Inzaghi Stays

Asked about the coach’s future once again, Zhang replied that “When the team wins, the coach plays a fundamental role. He’s led the team to the Champions League final, he’s won cup competitions.”

“There’s no doubt about it,” the President said of Inzaghi’s future.

“We’re proud of him,” Zhang said of his coach.

Of the victory over Fiorentina to win a second consecutive Coppa Italia, Zhang said that “I dedicate this victory to all the fans, and to those who work at the club. Winning has to always be the goal for this club.”

Of the upcoming Champions League final against Manchester City, Zhang said that “City are a very strong team, but we’ve grown a lot in recent years.

“And now we have a group of players who hadn’t played in the Champions League before, but have now played in numerous finals.”
