From Possible Sacking To Expected Pay Raise – Inter Milan To Reward Simone Inzaghi With New Contract

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is set to receive a new contract and an increase in his salary.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will reward the coach – whose future had looked in doubt just a few weeks ago – with a new deal after he’s guided the team to a great end to the season.

It wasn’t long ago that Inzaghi’s future at Inter beyond the end of the season was difficult for many to imagine.

Even the former Lazio boss remaining to see out the campaign didn’t look certain.

A few weeks ago, there had been suggestions that the former Lazio coach was on the verge of being sacked.

The likes of Bologna’s Thiago Motta and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi had been rumoured as potential replacements.

Were Inzaghi to be on his way, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in his signature. Now, however, it is absolutely abundantly clear that Inzaghi will stay.

Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Turns It Around – New Contract On The Horizon

However, the 47-year-old has put all of that well in the past now.

The likes of Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta and President Steven Zhang have publicly backed Inzaghi to remain next season.

This has come off the back of Inzaghi steadying Inter’s position in the top four of the Serie A table, reaching the Champions League final, and winning the Coppa Italia.

However, there is the matter of Inzaghi’s contract to sort out.

The ex-Biancocelesti boss’s current deal runs out at the end of next June. Inzaghi had signed an initial two-year deal when he joined in the summer of 2021. This was followed by a one-year extension last summer.

However, Marotta is never keen to start a season with a coach whose contract is one year away from expiring.

Accordingly, it now looks written in the stars that Inter will hand Inzaghi a new deal. It is only a matter of time.

Moreover, the coach will receive a pay raise. Tuttosport report that the Nerazzurri will increase the coach’s wages from €5.5 million net per season to €6 million net.
