Inter Milan sent scouts to the Bombanera to watch striker Italian international Mateo Retegui at a recent Argentine Primera Division match between Boca Juniors and Tigre.

This according to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, via FCInterNews.

Inter have made Retegui a major target in attack for this summer, according to widespread reports.

The Nerazzurri could try to bring in the 23-year-old to replace Romelu Lukaku should the Belgian return to Chelsea. Alternatively, Retegui could be signed to pair with Lukaku.

The Nerazzurri are not the only Serie A team to be keen on signing the Italy international, however. Lazio are also reportedly interested in Retegui, either as a backup or long-term replacement for Ciro Immobile.

All of AC Milan, Udinese, and Atalanta have also been linked as far as Italian clubs go. Then there are La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly keen to bring the 23-year-old to the Bundesliga.

Inter Milan Scout Mateo Retegui In Boca Juniors Vs Tigre Clash

TyC Sports notes that Tigre are set to buy Retegui from Boca. The striker is currently on loan from the Argentine giants.

However, Tigre have an option to sign Retegui on a permanent basis for a fee of €2.5 million. As part of that clause, Boca would also retain a sell-on fee that would see them receive half of any fee if and when Tigre sell the young striker.

Retegui was on show against his parent club on Sunday.

According to TyC Inter scouts were keenly observing the striker’s performance.

Tigre went on to lose the match 1-0. It is not certain how the Nerazzurri scouts assessed Retegui’s performance in the match, however.
