Inter Milan are inching towards signing Tigre and Italy striker Mateo Retegui during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are in a very strong position to get a deal done for the 23-year-old, who would cost around €18 million.

Retegui is one of Inter’s top targets in attack for this summer.

The Nerazzurri have been scouting the young striker even before his breakout with the Italian national team. Inter Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin has watched Retegui play live on a number of occasions.

Retegui’s emergence with both Tigre in Argentina and with Italy has caused his price tag to climb significantly. Tuttosport note that the 23-year-old will cost around €18 million.

However, Inter are ready to pay that.

Inter Milan In Pole Position To Sign Mateo Retegui After Meeting With Tigre

Yesterday, Tuttosport reported that Inter had met with Retegui’s club Tigre.

The two clubs met after a clash between Tigre and Boca Juniors at the Bombanera. The Nerazzurri had also sent scouts to watch Retegui in that match.

The meeting, Tuttosport report, further established Inter as the favourites to sign Retegui during the summer transfer window.

Tuttosport note however that Inter are not the only club interested in Mateo Retegui this summer.

There are other clubs in Serie A who’ve taken interest since the 23-year-old’s emergence with Italy. Moreover, Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt are also keen on Mateo Retegui.

However, as Tuttosport report, Inter are in a strong position to sign the Italy striker.

The newspaper note that the player himself has made clear he prefers a move to Italian football, and to Inter specifically, over joining Eintracht.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport anticipate that striker Facundo Colidio will not be part of a cash-plus-player deal despite reports.
