Arsenal starlet Folarin Balogun and Hertha Berlin forward Dodi Lukebakio are among Inter Milan’s main targets to replace Joaquin Correa.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter will have to make at least one or two attacking signings this summer.
It is not certain whether the Nerazzurri will be able to negotiate another loan for Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. Meanwhile the future of Edin Dzeko is in the balance, and Joaquin Correa are is expected to leave.
Correa in particular is a player who Inter are very keen to offload during the transfer window.
Whilst the Argentine arrived from Lazio with big expectations attached during the summer transfer window, he has failed to make the expected impact in his two seasons at Inter.
Injuries have played a major role in limiting Correa’s contribution and form.
Balogun & Lukebakio On Inter’s List Of Replacements For Correa
According to the Gazzetta, Inter will do everything they can to find a new club for Correa this summer.
In terms of a like-for-like replacement for the 28-year-old, the Nerazzurri already have a couple of names lined up.
One is that of young Arsenal striker Balogun.
The Nerazzurri’s city rivals AC Milan are also reportedly keen on signing the 21-year-old US international.
Balogun enjoyed a breakout campaign on loan with Reims in Ligue 1 this season. The Arsenal striker scored 21 goals in 37 appearances in the French top flight.
Meanwhile, Balogun has also decided to represent the US international team over England.
The Gunners could decide to cash in on the 21-year-old this summer, and Inter are keen.
Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, Hertha forward Lukebakio is also a serious target for Inter.
This season, Hertha have suffered relegation from the Bundesiga. The Berlin-based side’s campaign has been a disastrous one, with them finishing rock bottom of the German top flight table.
However, for forward Lukebakio it’s been a strong campaign on an individual level.
The Belgian has scored eleven goals in 32 league appearances across the season. He has also scored once in one appearance in the German Cup.
Clearly, it looks unlikely that Lukebakio will stick around at Hertha now that they will be playing in the second division next season.
Inter see the 25-year-old as a possible replacement for Correa, whilst the Gazzetta report that his price tag is €10 million.
