Inter Milan could be willing to sell Chelsea and Newcastle target Nicolo Barella, but only for a truly massive money offer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who also report that the Nerazzurri would have a replacement in mind if the 26-year-old heads for the exit door, namely Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi.

With the opening of the summer transfer window, the rumour mill is starting to kick into gear.

One player who has been at the centre of some sensational links is Inter and Italy star Barella.

A few days ago, a report emerged from UK media suggesting that Newcastle United want to sign Barella. That report went so far as to claim that the Magpies were close to wrapping up a deal.

In contrast, the reality appears to be that Inter have little interest in selling Barella.

Chelsea have also emerged as candidates for the former Cagliari star’s signature. The Nerazzurri reportedly have turned down €70 million from the Blues for Barella.

Moreover, the interest in Barella has always been there. Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City have all been reported to be fans of the ex-Cagliari midfielder in the past few months.

Inter Could Sell Newcastle & Chelsea Target Barella – But Only For Massive Money

According to the Gazzetta, Inter’s stance is broadly against selling Barella.

The 26-year-old Italy international is absolutely vital to their team, and not a player they will entertain normal offers for.

However, in the event of a truly stratospheric offer, the Nerazzurri could waver.

At the end of the day, Inter’s financial situation still means that it would be hard to turn down certain offers. If a Premier League club comes in with an offer of a certain size, it could be enough to significantly ameliorate the Nerazzurri’s financial problems.

As such, the Gazzetta report, Inter are not entirely closed off to offers for Barella. However, an offer would have to be for crazy money to convince them.

And in the meantime, according to the Gazzetta, Inter have a replacement for Barella lined up.

The Nerazzurri are stepping up their pursuit of Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi.
