The agent of Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij has confirmed that there is interest in signing the player from the Saudi Pro League.

Speaking to reporters at the Golden Boy awards, as reported by FCInterNews, the Dutchman’s agent Federico Pastorello stated that the player has little interest in moving away from Europe at this stage of his career, and also expressed optimism that he will sign a new contract with Inter.

De Vrij’s current contract with Inter runs out at the end of this month.

The Dutchman would therefore be able to leave on a free transfer were he to decide not to sign a new deal.

Were de Vrij to decide not to accept an offer from Inter and leave on a free transfer, Villarreal have been strongly linked as a destination.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants Manchester United have been linked with the Dutchman. Two other English teams have also reportedly shown interest, in the form of Aston Villa and Leicester City.

French team Marseille have also come forward with interest.

If de Vrij is ready to leave European football for a major payday, Al-Shabab have also reportedly made the 31-year-old an offer.

However, it looks clear that de Vrij will instead decide to remain at his current club.

Pastorello: Stefan De Vrij Has Saudi Offers But Likely To Stay At Inter Milan

Asked about the reported offer from Saudi Arabia, Pastorello replied that “I can confirm it. We received an extremely interesting offer.”

“But Stefan, at 31, isn’t yet ready to make this type of choice,” the agent continued. “With all due respect to those players who have made this decision.”

“Stefan feels very close to Inter and its fans,” Pastorello noted.

“He still has a lot to give.”

The agent made clear that “There were other offers, but he’s decided to stay because he still feels he has a lot left to give in Europe.”

As for the status of de Vrij’s contract talks with Inter, Pastorello said that “For the moment we’re still working things out. We’ve had the discussions that we have to with the club.”

“We have to wait to work out the final small details,” he added.

“I’m extremely optimistic that Stefan will stay at Inter,” the agent made very clear.
