Lazio could join Inter Milan in the race for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi if they sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggero, via FCInter1908, who report that Biancocelesti coach Maurizio Sarri would be very keen on the 23-year-old as a like-for-like replacement for Milinkovic-Savic, although Inter currently lead the way.

This summer, a game of musical chairs looks ready to be set in motion between some of Serie A’s top midfielders.

The fate of Lazio star Milinkovic-Savic looks to be a key factor in things.

The Serb’s current deal at the Stadio Olimpico runs out at the end of next June. He has no plans of signing an extension.

As such, Lazio want to cash in by selling Milinkovic-Savic this summer while they have the chance rather than risking losing him for nothing in twelve months’ time.

Inter are one club interested in the 28-year-old. As are Juventus.

Lazio Could Rival Inter Milan To Sign Frattesi To Replace Milinkovic-Savic

Lazio will certainly look to sign a replacement if they do complete a deal to sell Milinkovic-Savic.

And according to Il Messaggero, Neroverdi and Italy star Frattesi is top of their list. Biancocelesti coach Sarri sees the 23-year-old as an ideal option to reinforce the team for the Champions League.

The big problem that Lazio face, however, is competition for Frattesi’s signature.

Inter have reportedly moved into pole position to sign the Azzurri start. The Nerazzurri have spent the past week or so in talks with Sassuolo.

Meanwhile, Juventus, Roma, and AC Milan are also keen to sign the 23-year-old.

Il Messaggero report that Frattesi would cost no less than €30 million.

As things stand, Inter are the team pushing the hardest to sign Frattesi. However, they will be wary of competition emerging, particularly if they dally on completing a deal.
