The interest from Inter Milan in signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer is fading fast.

This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, who reports on his homepage that the Nerazzurri are focusing on their pursuit of Sassuolo midfield Davide Frattesi and not likely to move for the 28-year-old Biancocelesti star.

This summer, a game of musical chairs looks ready to be set in motion between some of Serie A’s top midfielders.

The fate of Lazio star Milinkovic-Savic looks to be a key factor in things.

The Serb’s current deal at the Stadio Olimpico runs out at the end of next June. He has no plans of signing an extension.

As such, Lazio want to cash in by selling Milinkovic-Savic this summer while they have the chance rather than risking losing him for nothing in twelve months’ time.

Inter are one club who have reportedly shown a strong interest in signing the 28-year-old. So are Juventus, who see Milinkovic-Savic as a potential replacement for Adrien Rabiot.

Inter Milan Not Considering Sergej Milinkovic-Savic A Priority

According to Pedulla, however, Inter’s interest in signing Milinkovic-Savic is starting to cool off significantly.

That is because the Nerazzurri are going all-in to try and sign Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi.

23-year-old Italy star Frattesi is another key part of this game of musical chairs of Serie A midfielders.

Inter had seemingly moved into pole position to sign Frattesi.

However, Juventus and  Roma are also keen. Moreover, AC Milan are thinking about a move for the 23-year-old now that Sandro Tonali looks destined to join Newcastle United in a massive money deal.

The Rossoneri’s interest and possible willingness to invest part of the Tonali fee will see Frattesi’s price tag go up.

This gives Inter a major headache. The Nerazzurri’s plan to reinvest the fee from a Marcelo Brozovic sale could put a further twist in the midfielder musical chairs.

Accordingly, Pedulla reports, Inter’s focus is all on sorting out the Frattesi situation. Milinkovic-Savic is not currently a major target for them.
