Inter Milan are set to beat Man City to the signing of Germany Under-21 international defender Yann Bisseck.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter are closing in on the signing of 22-year-old Koln youth academy product Bisseck from Danish club Aarhus.

Bisseck will reportedly join as a backup to Alessandro Bastoni. During the season just gone the 24-year-old has had no real deputy in the squad.

Either Francesco Acerbi has shifted to the left or Federico Dimarco has moved into defense when Bastoni has been out.

Now the Nerazzurri will have a true backup for Bastoni. Bisseck is used to playing on the left of a back three despite being right-footed.

Moreover, Bisseck is part of Inter’s project of skewing younger with their signings for this summer. The club have identified the high average age of the squad as a problem to address during the transfer window.

At the moment, Bisseck is engaged with his national team.

The German is playing at the Under-21 Euros with Die Mannschaft. Accordingly, the national team is the young defender’s current priority.

However, the tournament will wrap up in the next few weeks, with the final on the eighth of next month.

Whenever either the tournament ends or Germany are eliminated, Bisseck will be released from international duty. Then, it won’t be long before the 22-year-old joins Inter from Aarhus.

The talks with Bisseck’s representatives had briefly stalled. This was because of some requests to modify the deal that had already been agreed.

In that period, Man City had reportedly considered hijacking Inter’s deal for the German.

However, the Corriere reports, the Nerazzurri will get the deal done after all.

Bisseck made 32 appearances for Aarhus in the Danish top flight last season.

The German has earned a reputation as a promising young defender.
