Inter Milan have lined up young Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili as their priority replacement for Andre Onana.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

An Andre Onana departure from Inter is looking more and more like a possibility for this summer.

Manchester United are pushing to sign the 27-year-old. The Red Devils would be prepared to make a massive money to sign Onana just one season after he joined Inter on a free transfer.

Reportedly, Inter want at least €50 million for the Cameroonian. Meanwhile, United are currently as high as €50 million in their offer.

With Inter now aware of the very real possibility that Onana will leave, securing a replacement is a priority.

A major hitch in the Nerazzurri’s succession plan for the Cameroonian has already emerged. Empoli star Guglielmo Vicario had been Inter’s top target to take Onana’s place.

However, the 26-year-old now on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur. The Londoners have wrapped up the signing of Vicario in a whirlwind deal which worth €19 million plus add-ons.

Inter Keen On Valencia Breakout Star Mamardashvili As Onana Replacement

Inter have therefore been left having to change their plans.

According to La Repubblica, the Nerazzurri’s focus is now on Valencia keeper Mamardashvili. They believe that the young Gerogian has what it takes to replace Onana.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a real breakout season with Valencia during the campaign just gone.

In the prior season, his first after joining from Dynamo Tblisi, Mamardashvili had shared goalkeeping duties at Los Che with Jasper Cillessen and Jaume Domenech.

However, this time around, the Georgian has been the clear first-choice. He has started every one of Valencia’s 38 matches in the league.

Mamardashvili has earned a reputation as one of La Liga’s best goalkeepers based on the season just gone.

Chelsea are also reportedly tracking Mamardashvili.

Inter are now waiting to see whether United or any other club make the decisive push to sign Onana.

Should the Cameroonian leave, the Nerazzurri will move for Mamardashvili to replace him.
