Spurs are in talks with Empoli over a possible signing of Inter Milan-linked goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, who report that the Lilywhites have made a move to try and sign the 26-year-old, and could snap him up ahead of the Nerazzurri.

Empoli keeper Vicario has emerged as a major target for Inter during the summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri are waiting to see if offers arrive for Andre Onana. The Cameroonian is a major target for Manchester United and Chelsea.

If Inter were to accept an offer for Vicario, they want to sign Vicario. The Nerazzurri have lined up the 26-year-old as their priority target to replace Onana for some time.

He is at the top of Inter’s shortlist, favoured over Marco Carnesecchi and Giorgio Mamardashvili.

Spurs Want To Rival Inter Milan To Sign Empoli & Italy Keeper Vicario

However, Inter could run the very real risk of missing out on Vicario.

The Empoli keeper, whose coach Paolo Zanetti has all but confirmed will leave this summer, is not only a target for the Nerazzurri. Juventus and Roma have also been linked. Some recent reports have also suggested Fiorentina want to sign Vicario.

Even teams outside Serie A are sitting up and taking notice. Man United and Bayern Munich reportedly both admire the 26-year-old.

Another team can be added to that list, according to SportItalia.

SI reporter Michele Criscitiello has confirmed that Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race. He reports that the Londoners have opened up talks with Empoli about a possible move for Vicario.

Criscitiello also states that as of yet it is not clear what kind of fees the clubs are talking about.

However, Inter could be put into a tough position now. They are still reportedly ready to sell Onana if the right offer comes along.

However, the Nerazzurri may miss out on their first-choice replacement if Vicario goes elsewhere.
