Spurs are on the verge of signing Inter Milan linked Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Lilywhites have an agreement to sign the 26-year-old for around €20 million plus add-ons after a whirlwind negotiations process with Empoli.

Empoli keeper Vicario has been one of Inter’s major targets for the summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri are waiting to see if offers arrive for Andre Onana. The Cameroonian is a major target for Manchester United and Chelsea.

If Inter were to accept an offer for Onana, Vicario has long looked like the player that they’ll turn to. The Nerazzurri have lined up the 26-year-old as their priority target to replace Onana for some time.

He’s been at the top of Inter’s shortlist, favoured over Marco Carnesecchi and Giorgio Mamardashvili.

However, the Gazzetta reports, there is now little chance of that happening. That is because Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are close to agreeing a deal to sign Vicario.

Spurs Close To Signing Inter Milan Linked Empoli Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario

A number of teams have shown an interest in signing Vicario this summer.

Juventus and Roma have been linked. Some recent reports have also suggested Fiorentina want to sign Vicario.

Even teams outside Serie A have taken notice. Man United and Bayern Munich reportedly both admire the 26-year-old.

However, the Gazzetta report, Tottenham are the team who are very close to signing Vicario.

The English side have not been in talks with Empoli long. Only today did the initial reports of the discussions between Tottenham and the Tuscan team emerge.

However, Spurs have wasted little time in moving the negotiations along.

According to the Gazzetta, the Londoners have an agreement with Empoli. They could wrap up a move to make Vicario their goalkeeper next season very soon.
