Inter Milan are considering moving for Atletico Madrid midfielder Axel Witsel as a replacement for Marcelo Brozovic.

This according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, via FCInter1908, who report that the 34-year-old Belgian veteran is on the Nerazzurri’s radar as a possible option in holding midfield, although his €8 million price tag would be an obstacle.

Inter midfielder Brozovic is looking very likely to leave this summer.

It’s uncertain where the Croat will go. Both of Al-Nassr and Barcelona are making a big push to sign the 30-year-old Croatian international.

However, what looks clear is that Brozovic will be on its way.

This will leave a significant vacancy in the centre of the pitch for the Nerazzurri.

Whilst Hakan Clahnagoglu is ready to replace the Croat as the first-choice regista, and Kristjan Asllani is also an option in the squad, the Nerazzurri could still look to reinforce in the holding midfield role.

There’s little question that Inter’s top target in midfield is Sassuolo and Italy star Davide Frattesi.

However, another signing could also be on the way. This is particularly the case given that Robert Gagliardini is also leaving on a free transfer ahead of next season.

Inter Milan Consider A Move For Atletico Madrid Midfielder Axel Witsel

According to MD, 34-year-old Atletico star Witsel is a player on the Nerazzurri’s radar.

The Belgian only joined the Colchoneros last summer, arriving on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

However, despite having only joined last summer, Witsel could already leave the Spanish capital this summer.

According to MD, Inter are pondering a move for the former Tianjin Quanjian, Zenit St. Petersburg, and Benfica midfielder.

Witsel made 43 appearances for Atletico across all compestitions last season.

In addition, the Belgian made 120 appearances for his country before hanging up his boots at international level last month.
