Man United aren’t keen to go above €40 million in their offer for Andre Onana, whilst Inter Milan are holding out for €60 million.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that there is still a sizable gap between the Red Devils and the Nerazzurri when it comes to the size of a transfer fee for the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

Premier League giants Manchester United’s pursuit of Onana has become a real will-they-or-won’t-they proposition.

The Red Devils’ interest is clear and confirmed. However, as of yet it has not materialized into a concrete offer to Inter.

On the Nerazzurri’s side, there is a definite willingness to sell the 27-year-old for the right offer. However, the right offer would have to be a very high fee.

However, the size of United’s offer will naturally be all-important.

Inter have made clear that they do not want to sell Onana unless their full asking price is met. Their plan, if they sell Onana, is to have enough money from the deal not just to move for a like-for-like replacement, but also to reinvest in other signings.

Accordingly, Inter’s plan is to hold out for a big fee. They’ve set the bar at €60 million.

Man United Don’t Want To Break The Bank For Andre Onana As Inter Set A High Bar

In contrast, Sky report, United are not going to immediately make an offer that comes close to Inter’s price for Onana.

The Premier League giants are hoping to make a deal for a fee no higher than €40 million.

From the Nerazzurri’s perspective, this is far too low to even consider.

Accordingly, it will remain to be seen whether this becomes a fundamental impasse.

If United make clear that they will refuse to significantly raise their offer, the clubs could walk away from negotiations. If, on the other hand, the Red Devils decide to get a lot closer to Inter’s asking price, however, a deal would still be possible.
