Inter Milan Simone Inzaghi is insisting on a move for Romelu Lukaku as the priority once a sale of Andre Onana goes through.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the coach wants to make sure the club finally wrap up a deal to bring the Belgian back, even before a replacement for Onana arrives.

It is no secret that Inzaghi wants Lukaku back at Inter next season.

By all accounts, the 47-year-old sees the Chelsea striker as a key piece of the Scudetto puzzle for next season.

Inzaghi had in fact also been one of Lukaku’s key sponsors last season. When an improbable return for the Belgian looked to be even a slight possibility, the coach insisted on doing everything to make it happen, even preferring it to signing Paulo Dybala.

The coach had expected to have Lukaku at his disposal in his first season after arriving from Lazio in 2021. Then, the striker’s shock departure left him reeling.

Now, Inzaghi continues to see Lukaku as a vital part of his team. He wants to make sure that he does not miss out on the 30-year-old.

Inzaghi Insists That Inter Go After Lukaku As First Priority

In the meantime, Inter are in advanced talks with Manchester United to sell goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The fee for the Cameroonian’s sale will be very high indeed. And this will be vital in unlocking Inter’s plans for the rest of the summer, as they will then have the cash on hand to invest in their main targets.

Naturally, replacing Onana will be an important next step.

Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin are reportedly the two players who Inter want to go after.

However, for Inzaghi, making sure Lukaku is back next season takes precedence over these.

Tuttosport report that the coach wants signing the Belgian from Chelsea to be the very first move once the cash windfall from selling Onana arrives.

Then, the club can sort out replacing Onana.
