Argentina international and Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone has emerged as a possible target for Inter Milan.

This according to Italian news outlet Il Messaggerio, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are thinking about a move for the 28-year-old as they consider their options in the striker position following the abrupt end to their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku.

Talks are now completely over between Inter and Lukaku.

After weeks of trying to get a deal done with Chelsea for the Belgian, the Nerazzurri have pulled the plug. The fact that Lukaku decided to negotiate with Juventus has meant that Inter will completely reject the possibility of bringing him back.

This means that the Nerazzurri now must consider alternatives to the 30-year-old. There have been plenty of names to emerge on Inter’s list of prospective post-Lukaku targets.

Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun is one, as is Porto and Iran star Mehdi Taremi.

Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is another name on the Nerazzurri’s list, report Il Messaggerio, although the fact that La Dea have turned down a bit worth €50 million from Manchester United is a clear indicator of how difficult that deal would be for them to pull off financially.

And there’s always experience Atletico Madrid and Spain striker Alvaro Morata. But according to Il Messaggerio, another name has come onto Inter’s list.

Inter Milan Thinking About Napoli Striker Giovanni Simeone

According to Il Messaggerio, Inter are also looking at Partenopei striker Simeone. Whilst the Argentine did make 25 appearances in Serie A last season, they were mostly as a substitute.

There is certainly no question of Simeone being behind Victor Osimhen in the pecking order.

Therefore, Il Messaggerio suggests, Inter could hope to nab the Argentine for a decent fee. They could offer him more playing time than his current club could.

Simeone only arrived at Napoli last summer. He has played for the likes of Genoa, Cagliari, Fiorentina, and Hellas Verona in Serie A.

Last season, Simeone scored four goals in Serie A, and nine in all competitions.
