Simone Inzaghi considers Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata his top pick for a striker at Inter Milan, but Roma could wrap up a deal to sign the Spanish international this evening.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that the Giallorossi are ready to hold the decisive talks this evening.

Morata’s experience in Serie A makes the 30-year-old an attractive target for several big clubs in Italy.

Inter are among the teams tracking the Atletico striker.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is reportedly an admirer, and has made the Spaniard the first choice in attack. This comes after Inter abruptly pulled the plug on talks to sign Romelu Lukaku.

That leaves the Nerazzurri scrambling to come up with alternative targets.

Should they prioritize a signing in the same age bracket as Lukaku and with similar experience, the Spanish former Juventus, Real Madrid, and Chelsea man would certainly make sense as a target.

That appears to be Inzaghi’s rationale. However, the 47-year-old former Lazio coach looks to be at real risk of missing out.

Inzaghi Wants Morata At Inter – But Roma Moving Fast To Sign Him

According to Mediaset, Roma aren’t waiting around in their pursuit of Morata.

The broadcaster reports that the Giallorossi have already gotten the agreement of the player. Morata is ready to make the move to the Italian capital, and has more or less made his choice.

However, Roma are mindful of the competition from Inter and others.

Therefore, Mediaset report, the Giallorossi will hold another meeting with Morata’s representatives later today.

They are aiming to make the deal happen without haste.

Morata reportedly has a release clause in his contract with Atletico. This could prove to be the key to Roma being able to sign the former Juventus, Chelsea, and Real Madrid striker.

They want to immediately wrap things up with Morata and his representatives, then pay a set fee to Atletico.
